The evolution of the "Scar" species continues with this beautiful IP67 mod from smok, someone will not wait to object that it looks like the Legend, but let's leave the very personal comments that someone could make, personally I find rather than the Scar-18 is basically an intelligent and elegant evolution in the "Big Battery" theme of the small and familiar Pod Aio IP67 Scar-P3 and Scar-P5, from which the Scar-18 takes its graphics with the very successful cocktail of rubber / leather materials and the unmistakable textures of metal superstructures.

The body of the device has an IP67 protection rating, which means that it is resistant to dust, shocks, waterproof and resistant for 30 minutes if immersed in water between fifteen centimeters and one meter deep.

The IQ-X chipset according to Smok has a stable output and exceptional efficiency, the kit uses two 18650 batteries, produces a maximum power of 230W; uses the functions of variable power and temperature control (Ni, TI and SS).

The newly developed TFV9 Tank comes with two 0.15Ω V9 Meshed Coils designed for DTL vaping.

Note: the complete line of V8 Baby coils is compatible with the TFV9 Tank Standard of this test.

How the Smok Scar-18 is made:

The design of great aesthetic impact is derived from the small Scar-P3 / P5, the structure of the Gun-metal frame wraps the soft leather inserts with precision. Metal, leather and rubber complement each other, without a doubt a new fashion and a perfect fusion of the elements.

The body of the Scar-18 weighs 187gr and is (as on the Scar-P3 / P5) meticulously designed to be portable and easy to use. Its compact design contributes to an elegant and gritty appearance.

On the first of the two sides you can see the two finely burnished French screws that hold the protective metal structure and the engraved with the wording Scar-18.

The other side is characterized by the wording "Smok", by two other French support screws and by the USB socket protected with a rubber cap to protect against any infiltration of liquid or dust.

The 0.96-inch TFT screen is housed in a soft anti-shock rubber profile that continues from the front to the bottom for a soft and stable support base of the mod.

Also in the front area above the screen there is the square and slightly protruding Fire button, below the screen you can see the bar which houses the Up / down keys.

On the back the curves of the frame, the leather insert and the soft rubber are shaped to adhere perfectly to the palm of the hand, these expertly mixed materials give truly exceptional tactile feedback.

The cup is obtained in a central position on a shelf fixed to the body with four torx screws and is in turn fixed to the shelf with three screws of the same type, the Scar-18 can accommodate atomizers with a maximum diameter of 30.6mm without protrusions .

The bottom of the Mod has five vent holes for the cells, the CE mark, the disposal logo and the word "Designed by Smok", the snap opening of the battery compartment provides a convenient sliding button, the positive / negative poles are marked both inside the flap and on the bottom of the mod.

How Scar-18 works:

- Five clicks to turn on / off the Mod.
- Simultaneously press the Up / Down keys to lock / unlock the wattage and the screen functions (except the fire).
- Press the Up / Fire buttons simultaneously to select one of the six background colors of the screen.
- Press Up or Down to select the temperature or wattage setting

- Press the fire button three times to enter the interface of the choice modes: POWER, TC-TI, TC-NI and TC-SS.

- In Power mode it is possible to set the coil value in a range of ± 100mΩ
- Delete the number of puffs

- In the TC Mode (TC-TI, TC-NI, TC-SS) it is possible to set the following parameters by pressing the fire button to select them:
- COIL setting of the resistance in a range of ± 100mΩ
- WATT setting TC-Preheat with a range from 10 to 230W
- TCR setting of the temperature coefficient of the resistance with a range NI: 400-800, TI: 200-500, SS: 10-300
- Delete the number of puffs

Protections Scar-18:

Tank TFV9:
The famous TFV8 Big-Baby takes on the look and turns into the new SMOK TFV9.
This tank uses a 28 mm diameter convex Pyrex glass and can hold up to 6.5 ml of liquid.
The Top-cap is child-proof and prevents it from being accidentally opened by the lifting slide-to-fill system which guarantees simple and safe filling.
The air-flow slots are two, large (16x3mm), centrally they are equipped with a 2mm wide crosspiece that simplifies the partitioning by means of a ring nut.
According to Smok technicians, thanks to the lowered position of these air-flows, the air hits the coil much from below, increasing its aromatic restitution.

The contact pin on the bottom of the atom is gold-plated, slightly protruding.
Also on the bottom we also find the disposal logo and the C E. mark.

The standard version of the TFV9 supports the new 0.15Ω V9 Mesh-coil with 40-90W range made of Nichrome, also for a wide choice, the TFV9 is fully compatible with the entire range of TFV8 Baby / Big Baby coils.

Final conclusions.
I liked this product very much, I appreciated Smok's idea of creating a Big / battery starting from a base like the small ScarP3 / P5.
Compared to the latter and considering that it is a Mod with two 18650 batteries I would say that Smok has fully managed to maintain the rewarding concepts.
Again with respect to the small Scar from Smok, the graphics are the same, the structure maintains the design, but logically adapts to the new form factor.
The weight in running order is felt but is well distributed, the dimensions of the Scar-18 are contained for a mod of this type (IP67).

The Chipset provides an almost instantaneous reactivity to the fire, has good settings on the reading of the resistances, a good management of the batteries and a good visibility of the small six-color screen of 0.96 ".
Accessibility to the battery compartment is quick and easy (this is not always common on other competing IP67 systems).

The TFV9 Tank is a restyling of the TFV8 of the "Baby" series, of which it retains its qualities, but improves the refil system with a simple but effective blocking of the Top-Cap, increases its capacity up to 6.5ml and optimizes its flow / air to coil.

The 0.15Ω V9 Mesh Coil with 40-90W range is compatible with the old TFV8 Baby and this is good news for all Smok fans.
In fact, this coil seems decidedly valid and flexible in use, very performance and responsive already at 40W. I used it during the test between 40 and 60W not feeling at all the need to go higher with watts. The airiness is remarkable with the ring wide open! I found the best configuration (for me) at 40W with the air flow open at 50%, in this way also the autonomy of the two 18650 cells is truly remarkable.

Some functions are missing such as the bypass or a customized delivery curve in VW, but given the many qualities for this IP67 Kit and the price that should be between 40 and 55 euros (except for discounts or offers), my rating is absolutely positive.
