I've read through the other threads about issues people have been having with the Smok Tech 1.7 single coil cartomizers, and I have a couple of questions. I've now used all 10 of these cartomizers, and have had issues with many of them. The first two worked great. Then I had one that tasted burnt, but I thought that it could be that I didn't wait long enough for the juice to soak in. So I started filling them and letting them sit overnight. I made sure that they were completely filled, but I keep getting a burnt taste from the first draw. One cartomizer would short out the battery when I tried to use it. Am I just having extremely bad luck with this batch, or can anyone think of something that I might be doing wrong? I'm using juices with 80pg/20vg or 70pg/30vg, so thick juice shouldn't be an issue. I haven't had these issues with any other cartomizer, even the cheap generic brands that I have bought. I'm feeling pretty frustrated because of the money wasted on these carts, and all the juice that has gone to waste. The supplier that I purchased these from only guarantees against DOA, is the issues I've been having count as DOA, and has anyone had luck getting refunds or replacements from suppliers?

I too get the initial burnt taste but I'm almost certain that its a primer or a seal on the coil and not it actually burning because despite this, I've been using the same Smoktech 1.7 SC carto for three days now and the initial burnt taste didn't seem to change anything at all.

It looks like the more I use it, the more consistent and even it gets. I haven't had any issues or change in flavor or vapor since the first hour I was using the cartomizer. It's just that initial burnt-taste that baffles me. Where did it go? What caused it? Questions, questions. Anyhoo, that's what I've got, take it or leave it and I have no idea how to get your refund. Just buy Boge next round. I am. Even with the quirks and the lower resistance, I just want my Bogies back.

This sounds very frustrating and it seems you likely made sure it was filled up enough. How long have you been off the analogs? The only other thing I could think of is maybe your taste buds. I know mine went crazy for a while. Have you tried a different flavor? I once had my favorite flavor start to taste burnt no matter what I put it in. For days I thought my juice went bad. I switch to a different flavor for a while and then came back to it and it was magically good again. Other than that sounds like an epidemic of bad cartomizers which is probably the case. I've been hearing alot of chatter from others about certain smoketech cartos tasting bad.

I started vaping and quit smoking about 2 months ago. I've used different juices in all of them, with the same issue.

Thanks for the input Algernon, I'll try to keep using one of them and see if the taste starts to go away.

Yeah, they really do seem to have some kind of break-in period, which is weird for a cartomizer. But yeah, after an hour or so of vaping on one and keeping it wet, it seems to sort of, figure itself out.

At the end of the week, I'm cutting this one open with a dremel and giving the coil and filler around it a good look-see to see if it did burn. If it did, then it didn't effect the flavor of the poly at all after a while.

If it didn't, then I wonder what it was that burned.

Let me know how your experiment goes Algernon, I'm curious about the answer.

lol, day four, still using it. It's being really consistent with me and I had another vaper try it and he said it tasted fine to him although he did comment on how good my the coffee flavor was.

(it was RY4)

Thanks for this post.

This is just what happened to me with a few smokteck 1.7 ohm cartos recently. An initial "burnt" or chemical taste which seemed to dissipate after a while. It must be some sort of primer on the coil.

If I hadn't read your post, I would have just thrown the carto away after the first hit.
