I'd been using the Visions Ego Stardust rebuildable for awhile now, didn't think this style clearo could get any better...I WAS VERY WRONG.
I picked up 2 of the Smok Tech Redux recently....they are so much better than the Visions, here's the main reason why. The Visions model has a paper cup of some sort under the coil, I'm not sure if this little cup is the reason the Visions turned the juice black, but they did, very quickly, 3 tanks max of Bobas and the liquid was pitch black and tasted pretty bad, I've run 10 tankfulls through the Redux at 1.8 ohms and the liquid refuses to change color and the flavor is as good as tank one, the Redux doesn't have this little paper cup under the coil and the quality and consistency of the coil is far superior to the Visions, and rarely do I get juice up through the mouthpiece, like I did with the Visions. So if you like the Visions/Ego/Stardust style pick up a Smok Tech Redux and compare them top to bottom, itll be very clear upon inspection that the Redux is a much better quality unit. Trust me...you'll never pick up another Stardust.

Just a brief follow up. One vendor that shall remain nameless claims the Smok Tech Redux and Visions Ego Stardust are virtually identical...although the parts are interchangeable, that's where the similarity ends, as I said earlier, the coils are far superior in a number of ways...no paper cup under the coil in the Redux, more consistent coil/wick wrap, and no turning your eliquid black after many tankfulls.

If you have Stardust tanks you should be able to fit Redux coils for superior performance, I found major inconsistencies from coil to coil when I purchased Stardust parts in quantity...QC is horrible with them.

I'm getting some strange results from my first Smok Redux...

When I let off my power button the coil continues to sizzle for around 3 seconds. This doesn't seem right? Is anybody else getting this? It ultimately leads to a burnt taste if I pass the very thin threshold. It doesn't seem to be effected by the voltage I'm using.

I'm hoping its just a wonky head, but if thats the case I'm not exactly that stoked.

I hadn't considered dry burning it, to try and prevent this, but now that the head is soaked I'm not exactly in the mood to clean it, dry it, burn it, clean it & dry it again.

Plus the build quality IMO feels cheaper than any Vision clearos I've had. The airflow is massive in comparison, but I've gotten used to that. It hasn't leaked to the battery once, but out the tip a few times (from improper seating on the gasket, probably my error).

I received a ReDux today and at first I was really annoyed with it. When I got it filled up with juice and placed it atop an Ego Twist, I got a blinking light with no power to the clearo. I checked to make sure it was making contact, tested my Twist, and it wouldn't fire regardless of what I did. Thankfully, I purchased a couple extra heads, so I emptied it out and changed the head on it. Now it's working fine. spectacular in fact. I have it running at 3.6v on the Twist and I get tons of vapor, good flavor and no leaks (don't over tighten, tighten till snug, etc.) Think I just got a bum head.

Aside from that first one, I'm really liking the performance on it currently. I'm getting ready to put another order soon for a second or third with more heads. I'm just hoping it's not going to be a common issue as it's working very well now.

I believe juice turning black, is from the HEAT.

I got some translucent drip tips a while back, and dripped a totally clear juice in it (pure menthol in fact) and, through the translucent drip tip I could see it turn PITCH BLACK. Really, couldn't be much blacker and this was from a clear juice. Didn't affect the flavor as far as I remember.

On my Vision 2.0s (and clones), the juice usually turns a darker color but, again, this is just from the heat.

Funny thing though... to decrease the tight draw as well as hopefully increase the flavor, I have removed the silicone cap and cone on all of mine and, I noticed the juice is not turning as dark as it was. Possibly without the silicone cap the heat disapates better I dunno.
