I had to pick up a new one too cos' the shop that gave me my first one insisted nothing was wrong with it, it wasn't the first mod from their shop plagued with issues either though!
I got a second alien from a different shop an it's been fine :)

I'm getting the smok xcube ultra in a week, I fell in love with it an reserved it straight away. It looks more solid than the alien, I'll let you know how I get on but the alien is definitely my most used at the moment.

I just think it's a more solid, reliable mod & there's no paint issues like with the alien. You don't want your mod looking like a toddlers had at it after a couple months do you haha.
It's got less issues than the alien anyway...

The purpose of that is that it just increases the amount of vapour you get, I normally have it on hard and need like 20 watt less than I'd be using on another mod :)

Since I did not see mention of it.......

My rotation includes the Alien and AL85, both with baby beast tanks using the baby T8 coils. I have no idea if it is helpful or necessary, but every time I start with the set-up, I remove and re-attach the tank so the "new coil?" comes up and I respond with "Y" for yes. I do that whether I have run a different tank on the mod or not. Never paid that much attention to what ohms it was reading or if it changed after doing that, but will try to watch it a bit closer now.

To add, I use several different set-ups each day, so hard to proclaim how long a coil lasts me. But I would be comfortable saying I get at least 10 tanks out of a coil. And I go nowhere near 70 watts since I have settled in at the 55ish watts area.

Maybe you should try a cloud beast. I'm still on my first coil since the first of March. Over 10000 puffs and still like new. I have cleaned it 3 times though. Using it at 90 watts. Might be because of the juice I'm using 88Vape menthol 16 mg cut 50/50 with glycerin to make 8mg. A week out of a coil is unacceptable in my eyes. When this coil is done I'll post back my results. Vape on.

How do you exactly "clean" the coils?
I tried it with soap and water but a friend told me it's not good to wash it with soap and hot water.
So I'd like to know.

I turn the tap on and hold it up to the tap so water squits out of the bottom for one minute then turn it over and do the same. Blow into it to get as much water out as possible then prime it with e liquid. Put back in tank and after about ten draws it will start producing again. 20 pulls and it's as good as new. This is true with the juice I use. Ymmv. Vape on.

Hot water or room temp?
And tap water(with salts and stuff) or distilled?(I know this shouldn't make much of a difference but asking never hurts.)

I think it's amazing that the coil has lasted 2 months for you already and still going strong, which coil do you use?

It's a smok t8 v8. I just hold it under a fast flowing cold tap. It's worked well upto now. as soon as I get a bad taste I wash it and this method works. Tried soaking in vinegar and coke and boiling in a sauce pan and none of those methods have worked. Give it a go. Vape on.
Thanks for sharing, will try this the next time i have to clean the coils.
Happy vaping :)

@Skold i just ordered another alien kit. However I am now past day 3 on the T8 and it is okay seems a little tougher to draw but not burnt. I think i will try the cleaning if needed but my X4 coils came as well.

I went with the alien since it comes with a new tank and did not know what was causing the issue. I looked up the x cube ultra but there were a ton of issues reported with it.

The alien has had loads of issues too though such as ohms jumping, screen flickering or going black, paint flaking off.
Just because people are reporting issues doesn't mean they will happen with you :) you shouldn't pay attention to it & just vape what makes you happy. I love the alien and xcube ultra and my newest alien hasn't had any issues, just the first one that did. Hope it goes well for you too

I get 2-4 weeks out of a coil, getting only ten tanks out of it doesn't seem right. I've had 3 weeks out of the T8's an I vape a lot, the alien is my main setup. I don't know why you click yes everytime you put the tank on though haha, a new an old coil has a slightly different reading.

That is why, after explaining how it is hard to proclaim coil life, I estimated "at least 10 tanks." I probably should have added I am using some fairly sweet juices in them and may not fire it for a day or two.

Probably from a safety standpoint.....safe from getting a nasty vape. :D Given my advanced age and diminished memory, I am never sure what tank/ohms/wattage I last used on the mod so just easier to "start from scratch" each time. And since I have to hit one or the other, not sure it really makes much difference.
