wanting to know how the zmax holds up or should i just hold out and get a provari

depends really on what you plan on using it for. Do you have or are you planning on buying Rebuildable atties? Or are you planning on using a carto/tank system?
You would probably like the variable wattage better since you'll be using different resistances in your builds
If your interested in the zmax's variable wattage, some look at it as the darwin experience.

I will go for the Provari. Better quality and should last longer than the China Made
Just spend the extra on the provari v2 and call it a day. You'll need nothing else after it.

As a noob I started with the Ego Twist barely a week into vaping I purchased a Provari V2. It was Satin Blue and so pretty, it stayed on my drawer (bubble wrapped). Used it occasionally and saw/felt/smelled/tasted/experienced what most Provari owners talked about. It is one heck of a machine.
Since I was scared of scratching the finish on the Provari, I went ahead and bought a Lava tube and a Young June for my daily use. The experience was not the same. Definitely a big world of difference from the Provari. In fact, I found it more pleasurable to vape with my Twists than on the Lava tube and a Young June.
I was fortunate to buy a used ZAP and a Provari Mini at a great price on CraigsList of all the places lol. The mini was banged up so it became my daily vape and my world was never the same.
Call me a Provari snub or a fanboy but I believe it is the best bang for your buck. Save your money, troll the Classified section. I saw a satin silver red led mini with the 2 batteries and a charger sold for $160 last week.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that Zmax v2 has a new VV RMS option added so accuracy of setting should be improved; can't wait to see independent test results to see if it is effective in practice.
I can't speak about the Zmax from experience, but just from all of the people that have had problems with all the different versions of the Vmax's and Zmax's, I would go for the Provari just for the reliability. I would be worried my Zmax would break a few months after getting it and there's nothing I can do about it. If my Provari breaks I can send it to them and they will fix it for very cheap. No way are you going to send a Zmax to China to be worked on.... Just the way I see it, please don't flame me because he asked for an honest opinion and he got mine.
I would say spend the extra money on a Provari. With it you know you are getting a solid, reliable unit that if something happens to it, you can get it fixed easily.
With that said the new Zmax is getting great reviews, and the new rms calibration seems to put it inline with a Provari, but the Provari is going to last longer, and I imagine more solid.
