I simply wanted to raise the point that mods aren't for everyone, and I knew people would come down on me for saying it. Which is fine -- I fully concede to being in the minority on this issue. When people ask me about upgrading to a mod I usually say, "by all means, buy one if you want. But if what you have is working for you, don't feel like you're missing out on some crucial aspect of vaping if you don't have a mod." That's all. Nothing more.

And the last thing I want is for this thread to become hijacked and degrade into a mod/non-mod discussion. That's not what the OP wanted, and to the extent that my first post in this thread contributed to that, I apologize. I'm leaving it alone now.

Im not coming down on you at all just expressing a different viewpoint. Its seems like we agree on a number of issues here and Im sorry if it seemed like my post was aimed squarely at you..it wasnt. If what you have is working I see no reason to change it.I think a lot of people contemplate mods because something isnt working for them. Ive found what works for me and consider myself extremely lucky.

For me...getting a Provari was a profound moment...not because its expensive or I thought I deserved a mod but because I found what Id been missing from vaping and that was a consistent regulated voltage with no drop-off.I could have gone a half a dozen other routes but Im happy with my purchase and off analogs so I guess in the end thats all that really matters

I dont think buying a Provari is falling into a trap for brand new vapers in the slightest. The combo of a Provari, my Phiniac tank and 1.7ohm cartos finally got me off a 30 year 2 pack a day habit. IMO its FAR worse to transfer ones own cheapness or whatever it is onto a new vaper and talk them into getting something that is inadequate for their needs. Its the same reason I dont advocate cig-alikes, while its true they have helped plenty of people get off analogs I firmly believe that they have turned just as many if not more off of vaping.

Would you mind recommending which 1.7 ohm carto you use with the Phiniac tank? Does it need to be punched?

Thanks

Yes, any cartomizer used in a tank needs to be punched, how else would the juice in the tank get into the cartomizer? Of course, you can buy pre-punched or laser-drilled cartomizers ready to be filled and put into a tank. More advanced users learn to punch their own with a carto punch tool, or others like me prefer the consistancy of pre-punched cartos and still use them.

I'm not certain of the brand that Zapped uses, but I think they may be Smoktek's. You can find them here: Single Coil XL Tank Cartomizer for the SmokTank XL

He might also be using Ikenvape Platinum cartos: https://www.ikenvape.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1860

There are different length carto's. You need to select the length for your tank. Unfortunately, the vendors don't always advertise length's the way I'd like for them to, so you have to already know, or call them and ask. That's a bunch of BS IMO:mad:

Thank you, Baditude - it's tough figuring the path through the woods, with so many different products available! General question - are all/most tanks similar, in that they will take the same cartos?

I wish wish wish i broke down and got the provari first instead of all the crap I got laying here now.KR808's, ego's, kgo's, spinners. an ol bolt and now a vamo to experiment with VW.
I love my provari. it goes everywhere with me, and with the panny 2250 batts I never worry about suddenly getting caught some where without a working vape. come tax time im getting a second one.

Standard size tanks require a standard size cartomizer (35mm. ie Boge brand). The length of these tanks will appear about the same as their width, if not stated by the vendor.

Extra long or XL tanks (also frequently referred to as DCT tanks) require the longer XL size cartomizer (45mm. ie Smoktech, Smoktek, Boge XL, Ikenvape Mega, etc). The length of these tanks will look about 1 1/2 times longer than their width, if not stated by the vendor.

Excellent - got it! I had not made the DCT / XL connection, so that's dropped nicely into place. I'm currently trying a SmokTech tank/DCT with the 2 ohm carto and was wondering about what replacements to look for.

Thanks again!
