You have to remember when they started in the business it was a long time ago (in vaping years) and mainly went by SmokTech (Smoke Tech) which in poorly translated English would make sense for a Chinese company to name themselves. They are not the first to ill name a branding in related to smoke or smoking.

Another speculation is that "Smok" translates to "Long" in Chinese but it never really fit into anything other than speculation and tinfoil hats.

That being said, they have come a very long way and have surpassed Kanger Tech in being the reigning kings of gear out of China towards vaping. Either way you say it, I'm pretty sure the intended recipient of it will know what you are talking about regardless.

Zophievapes in one of her videos comfirmed that she asked the company and they said it's "smoke".

Well, if that's what Zophie says...........

I would definitely go with Smok=smoke and not Smok=smock.

Just watch, someone from Smok will now pop into the thread and say Smock is the right pronunciation.

Well don't get me wrong. I'm not saying i trust her. I just stated it because she claimed to have confirmed it with the company.

There is only one way to pronounce it if we are being language pedants, and it's not smoke, obviously.

It could be smowk(e), but either way I'm not fussed.

Maybe Kanger should have called themselves Wanger-Tech. That could have been good.
A Wanger is of course a sort of cushion. Unless we are talking slang then who knows.

The joys of language. I do like the Chinese (I really do, and visit often) but many a disaster has been created in translation.

My favorite is "cash recycling machine" (for all your laundering needs) and "You must be accompanied by children on the escalator".... which is tricky if you left the children at the hotel.

Nah, I trust Zophie on this one. Some of her reviews, not so much. And I wish she would just settle on a hair color already. Her original red was fine.

Ah, slow down. That's not how you pronounce Kanger?

So what about Joytech? Is it "joy"tech or "jay"tech? I'm getting all confused.

I saw her in one of the videos with white and purple hair. Apparently that's her natural hair color?

No, I don't think her natural color was white and purple. I think that was in that unsuccessful blue period of her career. I have no clue what her natural hair color is, I guess I was just used to her in that red.

Hmmm... I really like her in that color. She carries it so well no?
She had a bad phase on YouTube or something?
I'm relatively new to vaping so i don't know about her history.
