I live in Louisville, KY. My Uncle is currently in the hospital and in very bad shape. He is a smoker and very determined that he was going to go outside and smoke an analog cigarette. The hospital gave him an ecig in order to keep him safely in his room! :vapor:
Maybe, your Uncle will like them so well he will switch. I hope so and hope he will soon recover.

That is super cool! I do understand where your uncle is coming from. I had my gall bladder removed back in 98 and I NEEDED a cig afterwards! The doc would not let me go outside so, I smoked in my bathroom. I know that was not a smart or considerate move looking back now. If only they would have had an ecig to offer me :vapor:

I seriously doubt this will become policy at many, if any, hospitals. In fact, I bet in your uncle's case it was the result of a compasionate nurse or other personnel. The fact is, many hospitals are now forbidding employees to smoke, even off the clock, and backing that edit up with random nic tests (those that fail are fired). Under this, those who vape off clock would also be terminated.

Definitely not like that in Fayetteville. Our main hospital is usually surrounded by a lingering cloud on the emergency side from docs and nurses, not to mention patients there too.. Lol.

I'm in Charlotte--both hospital systems years ago completely banned the use of all tobacco products (I'm sure that would include vaping devices) on their grounds. which always cover several city blocks. But every time I visit any hospital campus here, I always see groups of employees hiding somewhere sneaking smokes. Very sad--these are upright, responsible adults! But I'm sure they would have to hide to vape as well....

My cousin is a nurse and she will give her patients the option of either the patch or an ecig, she will not let them leave the floor to go smoke. And she has never smoked or vaped so she doesnt get the "need" for the nic.

I love the fact she offers them an ecig. but! a hospital is not a prison.... and it's not free, I have to pay the bill. if I wanted to leave the floor (for whatever reason) I would do so.....
