I started with a blu and it was ok. It got me off cigs. I moved on to another one roughly 20 days after I got the blu. It is not a performer. I know nothing about the smokestik. I would suggest an eGo type.

Something like the ego would be the better way to go I agree. The Smokestik is a RN4081 device so you can buy parts for from alot of other sites. Other then has some of the same downsides as the Blu, pricey for what it is, short battery life.

If you do a search on this forum alone about Blu, you will find probably about 1000 posts. And out of those 1000, you will find that about 950 posters found Blu to be the worst PV on the market. That's not me saying it is the worst, that's just the facts from the VAST majority who have used one and posted their opinion on this forum.

If you are really serious about wanting to vape and be successful in making the switch, then save yourself some frustration and money and start out with an eGo. Most suppliers on this forum sell them.

Plus, even though you don't know it yet, you will definitely want a manual (small button) PV over an auto like the Blu and Smokestixs.

Hi, Fae and welcome to ECF! I think the most important question you need to answer is how much do you currently smoke? If you're not smoking a lot (half a pack per day) then you might be happy with a SmokeStik or a 510. If you smoke a pack a day or more, then you might want to think about getting an EGO or the less expensive Riva.

The battery life on the SmokeStik or 510 is only going to last a couple of hours at best. The battery life on the EGO or Riva is going to last at least 6 hours or more. My EGO usually lasts about 10 hours before it complete stops working and needs a recharge.

I personally started out with the Blu and moved recently to the Joye eGo for one reason. The Blu just could not get me off of cigarettes. It's inconsistent in vaping, unsatisfying, and the battery life is extremely terrible. That is my personal experience. I chose the eGo because of the great reviews here, and i will tell you that I absolutely love it, so I am telling you my experiences. I don't know the other one that you're asking about. Good luck to you.

I was trying to decide between the SmokeStik and the Blu when I realized that I didn't really care for the Smoke 51 Trio that I impulsively bought at my local smoke shop. I decided to go with the Blu because it was cheaper and the Hendu Elite was out of stock on SmokeStik's website. (I also liked the flavor options b/c I used to enjoy smoking vanilla and cherry cigarettes before they were banned). After two weeks, the only thing I had gotten from Blu was an order confirmation email and a hold on my CC and, after doing some research, it seems that Blu has a reputation for poor customer service and long shipping delays (or long delays before shipping). I went back to the SS website thinking that I would get a different model and noticed that the Hendus were back in stock, so I ordered one. It arrived two days later (this past Fri) and I LOVE it. The cartomizers taste good (haven't tried menthol yet) and last a LOT longer than the cartridges that came with my trio. Plus, it's so pretty lol. It also came with a free carrying case and a USB charger. I canceled my Blu order on Sat.

I just discovered this forum a few days ago and although my eyes are burning and my head is spinning from all the info here, I've learned that you can refill the SS cartos so I'm excited that I'll get to experiment with different flavors after all. :)

First of all the conversation when choosing an ecig should always begin and almost end with the MODEL - not the brand.

The BLU is a bad choice for 2 primary reasons.
1. It is a low end model of ecig.
2. It is grossly overpriced.

It is also bad if you smoke a lot, etc. as those type of models do not last nor have adequate performance.

Use this same exact reasoning with the SmokeStik (a 4081) or Value4Life (KR808D-1), etc. They are primarily brands with "some" differences.

First of all when choosing an Ecig, avoid the E8's, the E9's, the L88's, etc. They are a waste of money. Period.

Regardless of what you value in an ecig (size is the ONLY reason to even look at something like that) there are simply better options that are less expensive.

Whether you choose a 501, 4081, EGO, whatever....The logic still applies. For instance, you can buy an EGO "type" that is not made by JOYE and this is the RIVA. Some want genuine JOYE, some do not care.

Point being, every "brand" is a type of model of ecig. Understand the model FIRST and what you like about it and THEN choose a brand. Most new users do not understand models and why they get confused by all this in trying to make a decision - and ultimately buy the wrong one for them.

Is there a thread or a sticky that outlines the differences in an easy to understand format? Like a chart maybe? :) I'm trying to understand it all, but there's a lot of info for newbies to absorb lol. I was primarily looking for something similar in size to a regular cigarette and my SS (4081 correct?) seems to be working out well for me. Typically smoked 1-1.5 packs a day, have only had 5 analogs since Fri...

As far as a chart...hmm, yes... There is a Wiki chart thread somewhere... The only big issue I have with the chart is i think it lists every possible model that exists... and will likely create even more confusion, lol.

The other problem with it is that it is more to simply list models and compatibility, which is almost zero actual help for a newb. Doesn't really help someone select one...or learn about them much.

The "Illustrated" link... is better for that.

Yep SS is a 4081, I started out with a 4081 model, I found azsmokefree.com to be a pretty good place to buy extra's. They sell extra batteries for $10, and blank cartomizers for around $7 a 5 pack. Goodprophets has great carto's too for a couple bucks more.

Goin' Mobile... eeh ooh, beep beep!
I started with Blu. Bought a rebranded eGo package before the original Blu carts were used up - for all of the reasons previously mentioned, particularly the manual batts... But I still use the Blu whenever I need to vape hands free. It's light enough to tooth-hold while I'm using both hands on a project or while I'm cooking, etc. I BFM'ed all of the original Blu carts and fill them with whatever...
