I'm thinking I'm glad I got the clear. I can see what's going on and don't let them get dry. I use a thin gauge needle to fill and move it down the side of the carto to the bottom and inbetween the filler when I fill it. When I refill, I put some juice on top and also through the bottom.

Those dual-coil cartos are funny. I burned two in a row on 3.7v. Others use them on 5v and report no burning whatsoever. Nobody knows why, really. QC?

I'm done using these. I just cracked open another carto from a new batch and from a different vendor. Same story.

Burnt fiber with holes inside after 8 hours of vaping.

These cartos are not designed well people. Be aware.

Back to the Tank system for now. I'm very impressed by the Type B attys. Much cleaner and more trustworthy than cartos.

Ha the eGo tanks are def not more trustworthy but hey everyone has their preference. Personally I think their a pain in the ..., but if you like them, go for it. I use the Ressurectors on an EPower and have never had one burn like that. I've taken plenty apart after I've switched to a new carto and never had that problem, even with a Ressurector that I used for almost 6weeks straight. It was dark from the juice and alot of use, but not burnt at all. I fill all my cartos with a syringe and never let them get close to dry so I don't know if that helps.
Do you chainvape? I'm thinking that might have something to do with it. Or at least do you take really long slow drags? If the coil is constantly fired up then that wrapping is going to get dry. Or I think the really long drags could def burn it.
Try taking shorter drags, and I think that would help. Also try letting your PV sit for a minute between drags so that wrapping can become full saturated again. I really think that would help with the burning. That's what I do and I've never burned one. I rarely ever take long drags so the coil doesn't get super hot for extended periods. I would def think that could be what's doing it. I could be wrong, but like I said I've never burned one so its worth a shot. I'd be curious to know if that stops the burning

Any carto will burn if it's not damp near the coil. Not being damp near the coil can be caused by...

- not filling to stated capacity

- not settling the carto after filling (I lay a carto on end and on different sides for 15-20 min with thin juices, thicker juices need longer)

- using juice that is too thick that moves more slowly through the stuffing than the speed at which you vape it

- using cartos on too high a voltage for their ohms (not an issue typically with DC's since they are really standard resistance cartos with 2 coils and that makes them extremely low resistance ohms-wise)

So what's the definitive solution to this? Dripping?

If you like to drip, otherwise be sure to keep the carto in the tank moist. The tanks, even Smoke Tech, don't wick well enough, out of the box, to keep the carto moist. Hence the conversations about punching your own holes, or buying Resurrector's already re-punched for you.

As dormouse stated it's very important to keep your cartos wet. The first fill is very important. You could also use a tank- a tube that surrounds the carto (carto has a hole in it to allow juice in from the tank). This way the carto is always wet BUT you have to be very selective about which tank you buy. My cartos are Megas and you can also buy XXXL and they take lots of juice so you're not filling them constantly. I'm looking at tanks and they are good for at home but not for on the go.

I'm looking at this tank "Smoktech 6ml Tank Dual Coil Cartomizer Clear", do you have any good things or bad things to say about these?

Agreed on the "T"'s, I sent mine back to TW within a day. But, the "C" has been bullet proof for me since I got it over a month ago. I can't see how they could be a PITA compared to the maintenance involved using carto's, when all you do is take the tank cap off, fill, cap on, insert tank, and vape? :)

Best to email canvapes to make sure or ask in the Cdn Forum.
Best to use SR 2.5 to 3.2 ohms cartos becsuae you will have the option of turning it up but best to ask a Vet.
I've been researching tanks, when I have the time, for about 3? weeks and there are so many out there. Filling seems to be a major concern. Leaking was but they seemed to have addressed that issue. Still haven't decided. Some cheap ones out there while others are quite pricey.

Actually there is a LONG thread (a sticky) that has been exhaustively discussing this issue for some time: go Home Forum to E-Cigarette Technical to Ecigarette Technical Issues to Cartomizer Issues to Burning Cartomizers. It IS frustrating but any tips on preventing or minimizing burning are in there. Katya is Queen of Coping in that department.
