I purchased my first starter kit roughly 4 months ago. After receiving it SmokeTip sent me an email saying they had "upgraded" their batteries and that new ones no longer work with the old chargers. I purchased a new one and accidentally charged it in the old charger. Now the LED lights up, but there is no power to the carto. After contacting SmokeTip it appears I'm SOL.

Why would the old charger absolutely ruin the new battery? I thought Li batteries could generally be charged in any Li charger. Anyone know? Any way to fix it?

Charging current more than likely fried the PCB. e.g you can charge an eGo batt with a std 510 charger (slower) but cannot charge a 510 batt with an eGo charger,

It was said that certain batteries have reverse polarity, meaning the case is positive vice negative. These were the slim batteries e.g 510/KR8 etc... haven't heard of this in a long while though.

OK, (finally replying to this post with the resolution) explanation from ST was "we changed chargers they both look exactly the same but 1 has a little white dot on it. You don't get a replacement battery. Using the old charger ruins the new batteries and voids the warranty" GRRRR. Switched to Vapeshot products and have been happy since...no more of my money goes to ST
