smoking-everywhere is a SCAM

Hey all,

I was wondering if there is a listing of scam companies on the board??

I have been having issues with smoking-everywhere.com all day and it just got worse. Much worse.

After everything else, they just called me (I thought it was in relation to my previous talks with them - still waiting for a supervisor to call me). It was a sales rep. A nice girl by the way ...

Anyways, the purpose for the call was to inform me that the product I had purchased was out of stock and so they decided to ALLOW me to upgrade to the gold starter package for the price of $20, HOWEVER ... the gold starter kit only comes with a single battery so it is recommended that I buy a second battery as well (another $39.99).

Let me stop right there and explain something:
The 2.0 starter package I ordered costs $89.99.
The gold starter package costs $99.99.

Anyone with a basic grasp of math can look at this and see the initial problem!!!

I told her I wasn't interested in the gold starter kit and asked when the next shipment of 2.0 product would be in and ready to ship out. I quote her reply: ""I was told that it would be a very, very, very long time and that we cannot put a date on the arrival of that shipment so it is suggested that you upgrade to the gold starter package for $20"".

Yes, she said 'very' three damn times. Yes, she then tried to sell me the upgrade for more than a direct price difference in packages.

After many demands by me to speak with her supervisor, she finally said that she would have to call me back and that she would have her supervisor on the line when she did so. I asked how long it would be (since we have been waiting for a supervisor to call ALL day already), and she assured me that she would call back in 5-10 minutes top.

An hour later, she called back. Her supervisor was unavailable (again - this man has more meetings than anyone I have ever heard of), but she had spoken with him and they were working to resolve my problem. She then, I swear to god, offered me the gold starter kit 'upgrade' for $20! When I told her no, she then informed me that the 2.0 series was being discontinued and that I would not be able to get replacement parts or cartridges for it ... all in an attempt to persuade me to just freaking upgrade!!

My wife has gotten home and she called ... she actually got to the supervisor (after getting hung up on several times). He told her that he had to get all the records pertaining to our account and that he would call her back immediately. She has called back and spoke with him twice ... both times he has swore that he is searching for our 'records' and that he will call her right back.

We are still waiting ...

I have been in banking for 20 years.

You will win, they cannot deliver the product ordered. End of story. When you file your dispute, keep it simple. Do not go into a long story or explanation. Just tell the bank that they have not shipped and indicated the device is discontinued. You will get "provisional" credit within 48 hours and the credit will become final within 14 days.

Don't sweat it:thumb:

Sorry for the slow reply. We just talked to them a third time. We were told that there is nothing that can be done and we either upgrade (for $20 !) to the gold starter package or we wait for the shipment to arrive and previous orders filled first on a discontinued product.

I took the phone from my wife and told the lady (not the supervisor, surprisingly) that I had already spoken with USAA and they told me I would almost definetely win a dispute case. I then lied and said that we would not stop there, but that we would also take them to court which is free for us (it IS free but we had no intention of doing so).

She put me on hold for about five minutes (I was furious), and when she returned she told me that the refund authorization would be sent to the bank in the morning. She apologized for the delay and explained that it was 8:40 there and the banks were closed. We took her name for reference and will be calling back in the morning for the authorization number.

I don't want to get too excited on the chance that they are just scamming me again, but I think they actually are backing down. I'll know in the morning.

This company deserves to be shut down for the under-handed, unethical business practices that they use.

By the way, if you call them to order the 2.0 starter kit ... they still take your order and assure you that they have it in stock. So they are either lying to people to force them to pay the $20 to upgrade to the $10 more expensive package or they are lying to people about having them in stock (probably so they can then force you into paying extra for the upgrade).

I think that after I get my money back, I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I don't know if it will do any good, but I feel obligated to try. I can just imagine how many people they have completely screwed who think, like I did, that smoking-everywhere is the only company that sells e-cigs. How many people have they sentenced to death by removing a safer alternative?

Sickening ...

That stinks. I hope it gets resolved really soon so you can order a new one. I was going nuts while I was waiting for my 510 to show up, so I'm sure I'd lose it if I was told I'd have to wait a "very, very, very long time".

On a bright note, when this all gets sorted out, I bet you will be able to get a different kit pretty quickly. I think that Rocky Mountain Vapor is located in Colorado. They have carry 801's, 901, 401, and 510's. They also ship free. I bet it would only take a day or two for them to get an order to you.

We are broke as can be, but I don't think I will wait. I'm going to order a new e-cig, juice, atomizers, batteries, etc tonight. The sooner I order, the sooner I can get off these cancer sticks.

If they scammed me again and are not actually refunding my money, then I will just file a dispute and know that EVENTUALLY I will get my money back. *shrug*

I'll look into Rocky Mountain Vapor's prices and if they are not too much higher, I'll order from them. I need an e-cig BAD. I'm sick of killing myself with these analogs. Sick of it.

Eli

EDIT: Rocky Mountain Vapor was already open in my list! LOL! They don't carry a USB passthrough for the 510 though and I don't know about their juices. Time to start researching juices and prices ...

Interesting story...

This is my first post here btw.

I also ordered the 2.0 from smoking everywhere (mistake i later learned simply because they are overpriced >.<) and they called me claiming it was out of stock. They allowed me to upgrade to the "gold" for the same price I paid for the 2.0 which was 89.99 online. They tried to sell me another battery for more money but i declined that offer. I will not order from them anymore, and I heard the cartriges for smoking everywhere's gold e-cig uses the same cartriges as the RN4081 from nJoy.

The bottom line is the way these people do business is shady at best, and a scam at worst. Sorry to hear about your story.

and if you go to the site (smokingeverywhere.com) they still have the 2.0 INSTOCK thats odd!!!!!!!!!

If you call them to order it, they don't just sell it to you, they ASSURE you that they have the product in stock and can ship the next day (I know, we called to see).

That is strange. It sounds like they did the same thing to you, but without trying to get the extra money. Just curious, when did this happen to you (the call saying they are out of stock and offering the upgrade)?

It makes me wonder if this is a new scam they are doing or if maybe only certain sales people try this trick ...

I'll be calling in thirty minutes or so to try and get my 'refund authorization number' to see if they are actually canceling the order.

Oh, and I have heard that their gold e-cig IS the rn4081, so you should have no problems getting additional parts (atomizers, batteries, empty carts) for it from real sellers.

Sounds to me that they are out of stock and maybe the FDA has put a hold on thier shipments at the port. But of course thats pure speculation and my crystal ball has a huge crack in it.. lol

Even if that is the reason, it still doesn't explain why they still sell the 2.0, or that they claim they have it in stock, or that they tried to get me to purchase the upgrade for more than the price difference of the packages (and an over-priced battery to boot !) ...

Since your crystal ball is cracked, I would just call Miss Cleo and find out what is going on ... but she no longer answers her phone for some reason. :p

it comes down to the fact that s-e has a down and dirty buisness plan. the gold -aka 8041-aka a hole bunch of other names is a good product not great not the best but good. they know you have an unlimated on line resorce for info and products. so they push there starter kit at a high price on there sight or at the mall. they over sell its abilities to get you to make an ill informed desion. then let you fend for your self for servis and parts. its just how they go about making money. thats there objective and there good at it. they have gotin alot of us but we are trying to fix our mistakes hear and now. i almost paid 145 at the mall but went home to do reaserch first. i paid 55 on amizon for the same thing. then got other parts form other sights be for i found this forum. now i wont make those mistakes again. as with any new product or tecknoalagy theres a learnig curve. learn from your mistakes and move on
