I was guilty of jumping on the free trial off from SE last week, before reading that the deal was a basic scam, and near impossible to cancel out of. I called and actually got a rep who said that I was canceled and since the kit had not shipped yet, I was told the 9.95 would be refunded. It all sounds good, right? My question is just how can I be definitely certain they won't pull a fast one, ignore the call, and still shove it to me ? Is there anything more I can do besides the phone call and the follow up e-mail I sent right afterwards? TIA

I've been trying to post back to you, but keep getting cut off. The Thread above was another instance, may be helpful to read through that. I would call SE back, and make sure that money will not be taken out of your account. But be prepared, sometimes their excuse will be "that's a different department handling that."
Don't take yes for an answer!! Best of luck, yes, that has been a SCAM practice, not good business. My advice is to use a Vendor on the ECF list, the bar above under "sponsoring suppliers" they're all reputable and you would have some recourse if something is wrong. Good luck!

In a town near me FreeCig are doing a similar scam.

Offering a free trial but really charge you £6.99 for post and packing.

I you do not cancel with 7 days they hit you with £19.99 for a basic USB kit and then a further £46.50 for a month supply of cartridges.

I watched over 5 people sign up at the stall last week. What a scam. No one looked at the small print.

Make sure and monitor your bank account like a hawk, and if you're charged by anything that looks suspicious, contact your bank and have them issue a stop payment after you explain that it may be part of a scam. Usually they're pretty good about it. If they don't issue a stop payment, you can always call their claims dispute department and see if they can halt the payment and prevent it from going through. If you're really concerned, and think the scammers'll continue to charge it regardless of a stop payment, you may need to order a new card to prevent them from running it whenever they want.

Anyway, hope that helps.

After the iffy "yes" when I canceled, I sent e-mail twice asking for e-mail confirmation that I successfully canceled, including a request for my personal ID number. Today I got this plain jane reply:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear customer,
Your order has been canceled.
Thank you,
The Smoking Everywhere Team
To me that wasn't sufficient as a legal document since they did not give one piece of my personal link, order# nor ID#. I immediately called my CC disputes department and quickly told them the situation, and supposedly they are blocking any further charges from SE.
Also, I tried calling in on the 800 line before the CC call, and the second time today was elevator music and voice mail. I hope there's a class action suit over this, lots of people will surely be miserable when the bills begin to come in, and cancellation is so impossible. Bob
Boy, this kind of stuff really makes me mad!! It is also not legal. That little window that comes after you fill out the shipping info and pay the shipping then tells you about the little details that will follow, auto ship, etc. Strictly a suck you in tactic, and you would not believe the number of people that just let it go, pay the charge, and then suffer trying to stop future shipments. What they don't want is for people to re-fill their own cartridges, because then everyone will know how much money they're making on them! Most "vapers" figure that out right away, but a 'new' customer wouldn't have a clue. They're more worried about "Did I order enough, what if I need more?" I feel sorry for a new customer.
I can make a DIY (scratch recipe) 30ml bottle of 18mg/ml e-juice for about $6, complete with true tobacco flavor and sweetness from my own caramel and hazlenut. So I guess who would blame them for making hay while the sun is shining.
The problem is Kate, the it *is* legal. The new people are so excited about the product that they don't read the fine print.
Then they hit you with no returns on used items, so the minute the box seals are cracked, they consider it used.
If theirs an effective way to put them out of business, I'm in.
Reports to the BBB may be a start?
Sheesh, I don't spend anywhere near 50 bucks a month to keep vaping. What a rip-off! While I agree Smoking Everywhere is scamming customers into their ongoing charges for supplies that can be gotten from other sources (higher quality and lower cost), have to give them credit for pointing me in the direction of e-cigs. I watched one of their ads online and began my Google search for e-cigs that directed me here. The only good thing I can see about their high cost, high profile ad campaigns is that they are clearly opening eyes to a new alternative to smoking. Their "free" promotion, however, reminds me of those ExtenZe commercials where only the cost of "a postage stamp" will grow that certain "part of the male body" through natural male enhancement. Beware the snake oil salesman...
That sucks to know that some of the SEs are now starting that crap. They are already expensive. Now they are going to try the free + monthly supply crap? Ah man that is just too bad. The guy up at our mall kiosk here still just sells them outright so I guess it must just be a per vendor type of deal now :\ what a crap deal.
I wish there was a good way to stop that kind of thing...I even went to ECA to register an opinion on "questionable" advertising 'cessation' and 'healthy' language, and business practices. They did write back to say they were watching that development, etc., nothing really definitive, but that didn't sound good, aren't they backing NPro and SE? Ooops!
I hesitated to go to BBB, because didn't want any bad repercusions with 'stopping' e-cig sales...Lizinator has a point, at least it's a foot in the door with consumers. But leaves a bad taste in my mouth for sure.
Smoking Everywhere seems to wear two hats. While wearng the white hat, they're one of the leading proponents of acceptance and recognition of the e-cig as a viable alternative to smoking. However, at their mall kiosks and now this little dealie, they're clearly wearing black hats. My first e-cig is their SE GoldOne 3.0, which is a RN4081. I bought it ignorant of the much cheaper online options. I paid $130 for a kit that contained 1 battery, 1 atomizer, the charger, and 5 carts. The only good thing is that they have a 1 year warranty, so as long as that kiosk I purchased it from is open, they'll replace any part that's fouled up for a year. My atty went out a month ago, so I replaced it, and the guy there reset my reciept, meaning I had another year from that date to replace any part under warranty. That was pretty cool of him.
Sadly, these folks running the kiosks are either ignorant, or more likely, banking on the ignorance of the masses. When I replaced my atty, I mentioned that I could get one online for $5, but I couldn't wait for shipping. He said that you can't do that in Washington state because age can't be verified. I purposely omitted the detail that I actually DID order one to have as a spare, as I didn't feel like getting into an argument. It was nice of him to extend my warranty, so I just let it be.
Is this "refill" thing they've got set up similar to what Smoke Assassin is doing? I'm a talk-radio junkie, and I hear their commercial all the time. It's nice that the idea of vaping is getting out to the public, but it sucks that it's in the form of shady deals. :(
That does suck... I mean, we're dealing with a product intended to extend peoples' lives and yet the a-holes of the world need their piece of it. I guess some things never do change.
#1. I have ZERO economic ties with "intellicig" out of the UK aside from having paid for what I ordered.
#2. I think the instructions that came with my order from them need work and I posted same.
#3. Assuming I figure out how to properly use what they shipped, I have no other complaints. They shipped precisely what I ordered, it was much less expensive than what I'm reading about in this thread, it seems effective, and there are no recurring charges.
I'd crucify them here if I was feeling scammed, but I guess research pays off.
I wish I had known about ECF before I started ordering like a fiend, but was just not very informed. I saw the "expensive" web sites, but thank goodness at the time NPro was selling on eBay, so thought I'd be pretty safe there. $80 with shipping, so could have been worse. And it did the trick, look below what happened the day I got it!!
Same thing with me, SE made me aware of ecigs. But in my case, $50 a month is a great deal. since i spend at least $200 per month on my bad habit. but fortunately SE website had a few different models which made me thought which one is better. So i looked up the ones they have and found there already is a huge market of these ecigs. And thats how i found this site and made my 1st ecig choice. I'm puffing away as i type this.
Now I'm worried....Before I bought my DSE801 and 510, I responded to an ad for a free trial from Smoke-51. I didn't see anything that obligated me to buy more, but now I'm not sure if I could have missed it. At any rate, I don't need their free trial anymore since I'm already set up. Ordered my two e-cigs a day AFTER I responded to the free trial offer and received those just two days later. Still haven't received the free trial cigs. I did go to their website and tried to cancel.
