I have more hair than I need. It is hot!!! Our head is our "stovepipe" or chimney and a lot of cooling happens through the top of our heads. That's why hats keep you warmer in winter. So, I don't need more hair. My sister has very little. Poor baby. She never has to pay double for a perm due to excess hair!

My hairstylist's salon sells a shampoo that is supposed to cause hair growth. Really! She says it does work if it is used about 5 times a week. She works at Fantastic Sams. I offer this to those who want more hair. Can it hurt to try? You shampoo anyway, right? Good luck. If I could offer some of mine, I would.

It's what is inside (character, integrity etc.) that is really important to a good woman. In terms of outside packaging, I'll tell you that I find bald actually pretty sexy. I also like long hair on a guy. Pretty indifferent to the lengths in between. If you have confidence in yourself and can make me laugh - that trumps all. (Just for the record, I am a woman. lol)

Having said all that, I hope vaping is better for my hair than smoking. Mine doesn't fall out, but it breaks very easily and I will get quite a bit left in my hands after sliding the conditioner through to the ends when I wash my hair. Although, as a previous poster said, I think has a lot to do with stress.

I wouldn't doubt smoking might have affected all that. I'm just wondering since you stopped smoking and started vaping maybe doing healthier things has spilled over to other areas of your life. It has for me. I find I'm taking better care of myself since I stopped using analogs, the main thing is I think I'm eating healthier and I'm certainly getting more exercise.
while not a health nut .since my 20's i have avoided to some degree, art color, flavors and preservatives, and no fast food ever bleaaaaa
sometimes i have to pass up things i like other times i have a small bit.
heck as soon as i saw Hershey start using artificial vanilla other brands got my money
so the healthy part may apply to some, but if i get even more healther i wont need any sleep lol
popeye has spinach. i have solgar vm2000 vitamins :D

i dont think the link is directly related but the smoking may interrupt certain chemicals or genes in the body that regulate (to some degree) hair growth or follicle cells.

oh and dont start things like rogain unless you dont plan to stop, there is some evidence that healthy hair may become dependent on the chemicals within and when you stop you not only lose the rogain produced growth but any follicles that became dependant.

I quit smoking 2 months ago after 24 years and still have a full head of hair. As for going grey, don't fret as some scientists already found a cure a few months ago. I'm sure they're probably shopping it around to the highest bidder and developing a name and packaging as we speak so it's coming very soon. I've had some grey hair since I was around 13 so I don't obsess about it but it's good to know I can eliminate it in the near future.

Another thing came to mind. I had cancer when I was 19 and was the ONLY one at the hospital that didn't lose my hair due to chemo. My grandfather on my mother's side is bald and so is my younger brother so somehow I got skipped on the baldness but slammed with the cancer cells.

See the link for the grey hair cure news:

I have my own take on this. I admit I am a female and I have excessively long hair.

I HAVE noticed changes in it. I am not sure if it is the increased water intake or stopping smoking but my hair seems STRONGER. Less likely to break off. Less strands in the drain or my brush.

I wonder if something like that isn't what the OP is seeing.

Well that makes a lot of sense, Myrany. I have long hair too, have always preferred it at to be at least around 8 inches.

That's what I was trying to say. Better overall health (attributed mainly to vaping which has helped us quit smoking) can lead to various positive visible physical attributes like less hair fall and thus thicker hair.

rounding third and heading home...
Too bad not even my mother herself knew her father.

Yeah, I know genetics could be the largest culprit. But perhaps smoking could still be a major factor if you already have that genetic disadvantage, I'd like to think, and quitting, through vaping could help. My hair's thicker than my younger brother's (he's just 22) and perhaps I could add hairline benefits to the existing reasons to use to convince him to switch.

"i'd like to think" vaping does a lot of things. what it actually does is good enough. don't oversell, set an example, and others WILL follow. but seriously, hair?

Thanks for all the input, folks. I was just seeking some opinions on the matter, similar experiences, if anyone has had them. And I found out that I'm more likely wrong about my hypothesis, but hey, it wouldn't hurt to feel better about my hair, would it? Sorry for the rather superficial and vain concern I raised here but I'm thankful that at least a few other people felt a similar improvement on their heads.

I was bald by 30,facial hair was black with flecks of ginger which greyed through my 30's till no more ginger, just black and grey.

Been vaping 6mths and the ginger is back.

I attribute this to stopping smoking not starting vaping.

Would not know what to do with hair on my head anymore,it seems so inefficient.

Are you telling me that if I stopped smoking and vape long enough, I can possibly stave off the grey and get some ginger color mixed in with it?
Please tell me it's true.
(One can HOPE.......:p)

There is no question that my hair grows faster and my nails grow faster since I switched to vaping.

In fact, I posted about this nearly three years ago...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...r-why-my-hair-growing-faster-post1296107.html

It still holds true today, and I still hate it.
:)

Yes, my nails too! Realized it just now. Before, I could past a week without trimming them. I actually use my nails to tighten the allen screws on my ERA when I can't find the tiny wrench for them, so this faster growing rate does come handy for my vaping needs, LOL.

Unfortunately, vaping has affected the COLOR of my hair. Full head of hair, but it's turning gray....
Any flavors known to STOP it? :p
(May have to go to the Grecian Formula, barring a miricale anti-greying flavor.)

On a more serious note, smoking analogs is well-known to cause faster greying of the hair, IIRC.

The guy that cut my hair back in the 80s (RIP Jim Daye) noticed a few grays on my head when I was 18 and I started to lament it. "Better for it to turn gray than turn loose," he would say. So true. I still have it (although it is a little thinner), and it's got a ton of gray now, mostly on the sides. I'll never color it though, I EARNED every single one of them!

I was going to suggest this, too. Smoking saps the nutrients from your skin and hair and dries them out. It stands to reason that you'd see more breakage in your hair because of this. Are you noticing thinning at the scalp, or are you basing it entirely on what falls out in your hands? Because the fact that you're losing hair doesn't necessarily mean you're losing it at the root. It could have been breaking off.

+1000
I find completely bald guys (particularly ones with fierce goatees) VERY attractive. OTOH, I have a special weakness for guys with really long hair as well. And like you, I'm a bit indifferent about all the lengths in between.
Those two extremes (completely bald and long hair) carry a mystique that is irresistible.

So.....for the guys who really are losing it, take heart. I'm sure we're not the only ones who think bald guys are sexy. Just grow a goatee and you're good to go (at least in my book). :p

Mine is definitely breakage. My hair is a bit below knee length so breakage goes with the territory ;)

I had "quit" smoking once before for a good 8 months before returning back to the bad habit for an extra 2 years. I quit cold turkey but had the worst case of nicotine withdrawal. Insomnia, anxiety, restlessness, and HAIR LOSS. I was also preparing for one of the biggest exams, so at the time I had attributed those symptoms to the stresses of getting into law school. Come to think of it, those were probably withdrawal symptoms.

I used to have REALLY thick and full hair, so I never thought I would be afflicted by hair loss. Its funny that quitting smoking actually triggered my hair loss. I may have put my body into shock by quitting cold turkey? I have grown a little of it back and my hair loss isn't nearly as bad as it was back then, but in certain lighting, I can clearly see my scalp.

I am now trying to quit for the second time, this time by weening myself off of cigarettes while increasing the amount I am vaping. Hopefully I wont have to go through that hell a second time.
