Smoking vs Vaping

How satisfied are you with using a PV (Personal Vaporizer)?

  • I still smoke regularly and use a PV when I can't smoke the real thing.

  • I was more satisfied with a cigarette, but I am trying to make do with my PV.

  • I am more satisfied with my PV and usually do not want a cigarette.

  • I am completely satisfied with my PV and never plan to smoke again.

I picked " I am more satisfied with my PV and usually do not want a cigarette." I don't smoke anymore, but I am around smokers quite a bit. Once in a while, seeing someone light up will trigger a small craving. I do have one confession - I keep saying I am 2 years smoke-free, but I smoked a cigarette two weeks ago. I had an argument with a close family member and was pretty upset. I smoked a Marlboro Red down to the filter and enjoyed every second of it. It really calmed me - or maybe I was just feeling the effects from a lack of oxygen! When I first started vaping, I would try cigarettes here and there, and I could never take more than a couple puffs. They're disgusting. Yet I really enjoyed that one. It's funny how my perception of that cigarette was more akin to my pre-vaping self. Just shows that the trigger to smoke will always be there for me, even if it is very easy to avoid smoking now.

It's amazing how bad they are now, isn't it? lol...How did we ever get addicted to something so vile? Oh, yeah...all the extra things the tobacco companies put in them to make them more addictive made that happen!

I have tried on several occasions a normal cigarette ( usually when in a situation where I had no juice or no battery) and it didn't work for me. I would light it, make a pull and start coughing and then decide to go on nicotine free for a while more.

I'm progressing along that scale, actually. I'm right between 2 and 3 but as time goes on I'm becoming a 3. I had a few puffs of an analog this weekend and walked away from it to rinse my mouth out. But a week ago I had an analog and LOVED it. I'm just settling into some good gear that works for me, which jumped me from 1 or 2 to 2 or 3.

I'm glad I had the incentive of being a gadget geek to get me into it though, and enough cash to get me the gear. After a 510 starter kit I was ready to give it up.

I never feel like I "need" a cigarette and am completely satisfied with vaping, but I do cheat when I'm out drinking with friends who smoke. It's kinda like a novelty now, like vaping used to be.
This may turn out to be my one weak moment. I've vaped with wine and it was cool the second time, so that's a go. I have a key lime juice that will rock with gin and tonic, so no worries there, either. The big one, and my ultimate favourite in alcoholic beverages will be the tricky one, and that, of course, is beer. (Beer! Hell yes!) I have a tobacco flavour that I love with coffee, so that may be the ticket with beer. Maybe.

Overall, on a regular basis, I have no desire to smoke at all. I find vaping to be superior to smoking in every aspect, with that one remote possibility that beer may make me want to smoke.

Sometimes in the evening I like to sit with a little brandy while reading on- or offline, and occasionally when I've had a little too much, I'm tempted to light a cig. I don't keep 'em around any more anyway, but I puff on my PV for a few minutes and I'm good again. Otherwise my desire to smoke is zero.

I have no plans to ever be a smoker again but the curiosity of what it would taste like to me now is there sometimes. Luckily, I live with a non-smoker and have not been around any smokers since I quit. If there were a pack here, I would be tempted to light one just to see if it is as gross as I think it will be but there is no way I am paying for a pack just to throw them away. I like the way I smell far too much to do that now. :)

I am definitely more satisfied with my pv, overall. Only 1.5 months in so I still have some muscle memory moments like reaching in my pocket for a lighter, or trying to pull my smokes out of my pocket when I get into my car. Those moments remind me that I used to smoke, but those thoughts quickly fade.

The hardest time for me, as far as thinking about smoking, is when I have my first sip of coffee, or after several beers. For me, having a strong tobacco flavor vape almost satisfies the desire...like 90%.

vaping completely eliminates the need to smoke. i realized that after cutting down the nicotine content in my juices from 24mg to 6mg, im more addicted to the action of smoking than really craving the nicotine. now im moving down to 0 mg in my ithaka for all day vapes that ill supplement with the usual 6mg juices I use in my drippers.
