Smoking Vs. Vaping

I started vaping because I am a singer. I didn't want analogs to continue to diminish my voice. I find that vaping gets rid of the phlem and therefore it is easier for me to sing. I don't find myself craving analog ciggs the PV does just fine for me. Its great that I get to reduce my chance of dying too but I wasn't ever really concerned with that... I guess I'm young minded about that. Anywho... Love it. Recommend it.

What made you want to make the changeover?

After smoking a pack to a pack and a half a day for 15 years, I finally started thinking about how it would affect my health. There is a strong history of different cancers that run in both sides of my family. I was watching a show about a mother that was dying of cancer at age 30, and saw how difficult it was to tell her kids that she was dying. I thought about my children and how hard it would be if we were in that position. If I keep smoking, it's almost not a question of IF I am going to die, but WHEN I am going to die. I'm not ready to have to explain that to my children just yet. I plan on living to see my grandbabies running around, so I had to do something!

My grandmother died of lung cancer a year ago yesterday, my mama has COPD, and after 20 years of smoking mostly lights and ultra lights, I've developed smoker's hack. I'm tired of huffing and puffing and coughing. And I guess I'm "old minded," because the idea of dying because of my habit is more and more on my mind. :p I also have four sons, and I do *not* want them growing up to become smokers, and I know they're more likely to if I don't change my poor example. Until I found the e-cig, I honestly didn't think I'd ever be able to quit. Now I know it's just a matter of time until I smoke my final analog.

Well, as the years went by it got to me more and more that I still smoked. At first it was, when I graduate high school I'll quit. Then, it was when I get my BA. Then it became after my MA. In January, I added it up and it'd been 12 years of smoking. Had heard about e-cigs and figured I'd tried the gum and cold turkey, why not these? They're gadgets, they mimic the act of smoking, and you can use 'em all over the place! I'm careful and courteous about vaping indoors now that I've started, but the idea did help sell myself on them. Switching just might have been the smartest decision I've made.

I started because I am a drummer. I play metal, and use my drumset like a jungle gym during shows. I was tired of being so exhausted tearing down and setting up my kit...

A friend let me try his, and explained the useage, and content of the vapor. I was convinced. Even if these little suckers have 2000 chemicals in them, that's still HALF of what cigarette smoke contains!

BTW, first FULL 24 hours without an analog!!! Yay me!

Music is my life. It's how I make a living and support by family, including my beautiful wife of 21 years (a stay at home mom). One of the reasons I looked them up was because of the up and coming ban on cigs even in bars (Michigan). I play drums and guitar I also sing. It would drive me nuts if I couldn't have a smoke every once in a while. Waiting for the set to be over would make for very short sets if you know what I mean.

This is the song that comes as close to my definition of what music is for me.

I will be getting a starter kit next week. I am also a singer and have been having a problem recuperating after shows while on tour (hoarse voice the next morning, etc.). Major pain in the .... and I'm afraid it will only get worse. I'm hoping that the ecig will help prevent further damage and with the usual huffing and puffing that comes with loading in gear or going up 3 flights of stairs:)

After reading through forum posts, I've decided to go with the vapor 4 life starter kit. I think the two-part design might be easier to handle until I get a little more experience and research under my belt. Anyone have tips for a good place to get e liquid?

Thanks for any help you can give,
Aileen

Interseting you say vaping has reduced your phlegm - maybe you should trot along to the Health section of our forums as theres a topic there with people saying the opposite..might be useful for your input there :)

Rubberdux - gosh - so many places! Why not start your own thread and see how many suppliers you get listed lol Otherwise take a look at the E Liquid reviews forums and see what hot right now and maybe whats not! Might give you a starting point for your research (lots of good ones, a few great ones and many ok ones too)

glad your singing has improved derrick. the reason i'm doing it is i've pretty much gotten hooked to cigs even though i'm more of a social smoker. i just love the nicotine buzz and the throat hit, and i figured it would be smarter to switch to e-cigs before i started smoking analogs more and ruined my health. I intend to live forever, so far, so good. haha.

hehe, another singer! (not professionally, mind) I love to sing and will ocassionally sing for friends (and i tend to get dragged into singstar and rockband sessions) and i got tired of it being hard to hold and hit notes that i knew i should be able to. I also really didn't like the smell of regular smokes or smelling like smoke (for this reason i will be buying my boyfriend one, even though he swears he'll never switch).

So, on the 26th of January i went out and got a pre paid visa (easier plus i'm not legal for regular ones) and bought a black and gold 401 from mypvshop. unfortunately i forgot about the olympics, so my pv has been stuck in the Richmond Post Office (and hours drive from me) since the 3rd of February. All my juices (11 3ml Ms Ts 20 ml buttered rum, and 10 ml coffee flavors) have all arrived but not my PV. Oh well, it'll be well worth it when it arrives

I didn't ever intend to stop!

Got a PV in order to be able to smoke when I'm out clubbing and pubbing and because I dabble in promoting live music and hate missing a band when I'm having a smoke!

However I got my 510 about the same time as I ran out of baccy one day, being lazy I thought I'd just use that until I could muster the energy to walk to the shops, I never made that trip, and haven't touched an analog since! Awesome, a week later I feel like I have new lungs!

For me the final straw was when they added fire-proofing chemicals to the paper. Made me feel toxic. And what smoker does not want to quit or drastically cut back? I still have a couple of analogs a day, but I intend to get some snus soon. Still the 510 has taken care of at least 90% of my analog consumption. Works really well. My sig sums it up...
