Hey again all,

I received a free dual coil 510 clearo from CDN Vapor with my last shipment of juice (Thanks Al!) and after using it for the first 48 hours I am quite impressed. If you have followed my posts over the last few months you will know that I was far from a "carto-guy" until my expectations were completely blown out of the water by Bloog MaxxFusion cartomizers. I still enjoy my bloog but it has been taking the back-burner and used only when I need my hands free these days.

I like the Bloog so much that I simply gave up on looking for a new carto to meet my vaping needs but this 510 clearomizer is helping to change my mind on cartos for good.

SmokTech 1.5 ohm Clear Dual Coil 510 Cartomizers

Pros:

At first glance, the clear tubing was a concern. I have used CE2 Clearos in the past (that were placed in my hunk of junk quickly) and the clear plastic tubing cracked in no time flat. Surprisingly, the tubing appears to be much more durable on SmokTech cartos and I have not noticed a single crack yet... Mind you I have been very careful with it.

- You can see your juice/ the dryness of the batting
- It's easy to see any sort of charring/ burning of any part of the carto
- Performs pretty much on par with Bloog Cartos (Keep in mind that Bloog Cartos are best with a Bloog battery and will NOT perform the same on a mod or eGo. This 510 clearo achieves a wattage that is close to a Bloog on a bloog battery, though the ohms and voltage are different)
- The flavour is still like a carto, but provides a very good TH
- Very versatile compared to a Bloog and will fit most devices

Cons:

- Clear plastic inevitably cracks and breaks
- Should not be used on a stock eGo battery (Pulls too many amps for some proprietary devices to handle)
- Can cause a false-positive for a short in a protection circuit when using at higher voltage (Most notably the Provari)
- Isn't as compatible with some 510 drip tips (The steel variety would be better for those whom need their drip tip at all costs)
- Very unattractive after a days use (I won't even mention what my friends said it looked like after only a day of use... There is a noticeable ring of darkened juice that settles near the bottom of the carto, I simply blew it out instead of refilling when I felt it was time and it cleared up that issue completely)

Initial Impression

So beyond all of the points what do I think? Well, I am ordering more as you read this most likely. I do enjoy these cartos a lot simply because they remind me so much of Bloogs and pair well with my Icon. I'm excited to see that the world of cartomizers is changing and allowing us drippers to have some time off from greasy hands or having to put ourselves in danger to get a fix.

I will update in a few days and put another 2 cents in once I feel I know the good the bad and the ugly, until then :vapor:

Nice review. Glad to see you have your vaping stock back again. I'm still reeling from your recent adventures with analogs. :)

Haha, thanks Dusty and trust me I am still reeling from that experience myself. I'm pleased to report that I haven't had a cigarette since I picked up my juice from the post office :) I'm stocking up and planning my path to vaping 0 nic now that I have truly seen how thin that line really is between vaping bliss and the smoking abyss.

Yet another great review! Any batteries you would recommend using these on? My current stock isn't very diverse (510 manual/auto, eGo 650's and the RevoV2) all are 3.7v.

Thanks heXy! I wouldn't suggest using these cartos on your 650 mah eGo, I would imagine since it is two 3 ohm coils wired in parallel to acheive 1.5 ohms that the load would be too much for it much in the same way that a low res atty can kill them. TBH I have used my 1000 mah eGo-T batteries with success but I'd hate for others to fry their gear.

With these cartos I think the best batteries would be AW IMR 14500's or bigger, so any mod with a mechanical switch or a 5 amp electrical switch for safe measure will do nicely. As for the RevoV2 I can't honestly say, I have heard conflicting stories about using low res cartos on the unit and that only Bauway and Boge products work on it as well.

For the RevoV2 I'll stick with standard resistance carto's... FYI all my 510 carts and atties light up on this thing, no issues with that. Sometimes you have to work the center connection down slightly to make contact, no big deal really. Maybe the RevoV2.1 would handle the dual coils better as it's armed with two 700mAh batteries in parallel totaling 1400mAh. Using a dual coil or even LR stuff on the one I currently own will just kill battery prematurely.

Chances are I'll eventually pick up a VV mod with a removable/changeable battery, then give these dual coils a try. Thanks for the heads-up though!

Lately I've really been eye-balling the GLV3 (full bottom and top feed system) and also have been deeply considering the use of paypal again because of this lol.

Well it has been a few days since I retired my first SmokTech Dual Coil Carto, I noticed some slight charring of the batting and hucked it after a week. I would expect most vapers to get a lot more life out of these than I did, perhaps 2 weeks or more on a single carto, which is awesome and on par with Bloog as well, if not a bit better.

The clear plastic stayed intact the entire time, unlike CE2 Clearo's which broke within a few days (and all 5 of them too) and also allowed me to detect the charring before the flavour was really effected. Overall I like these cartos and will recommend them to eGo users who don't want to buy a Bloog/Volt for the price of it and need the safety and convenience of a carto.

The biggest downsides - You can't boil the clear version for obvious reasons (Melting!) and there is apparently a small amount of adhesive used in the construction of them, so taking them apart is not as straight forward as a CE2 clearo. These are very minor gripes and I prefer not having to fiddle with my cartos to get them working right anyway. Also, the clear plastic may not have broken for me but they could easily be broken by getting hit, dropping your device and so on.

    Conclusion?

I have ordered more from CDN Vapor and will still use my Bloog for different reasons (size mostly) but Clear Dual Coil 510 cartos are a win in my books. Great vapor, TH and usability without having to guess by flavour weather your carto is fit for use or not.

I just picked up my order from VaporKings and so far I am blown away! I was never big on cartos either, especially since I've been using a Reo Grand so I didn't see the need really, I just bought them out of curiosity. Right now I have a clear one paired to my eGo passthrough and the throat hit and vapor are phenomenal, I love hearing the snap, crackle and pop on every hit.

I also picked up a 5V box mod from Madvapes, VapourGuy you mentioned that they do well on higher voltages? I'm just waiting for my batteries to charge and I"ll be slapping it on there to see.

    Woohoo 300th post! :)
