Ok guys, so i just primed a smoktech 2.0ohm dual coil carto, and using it in the smoktech dct tank, on my vamo. but what doesn't make sense is the second I put it up past 4 volts, i get a burnt taste.. how come? it's a 2.0 ohm dual coil, shouldnt i be vaping it at like 5 volts? any ideas?
Reading this post, I set my VTR with the iClear30s 2.1 ohm coil in it to 4 volts. At 4.1 volts I start to get the burnt taste myself.

I don't know if that's gonna be of any help to you but I thought I'd post that anyhow. I'm going back to 8.0 watts now.

Higher voltage does not automatically mean better vape. Why do you feel compelled to crank up the voltage when the vape degrades accordingly?

I don't know, it seems like i'm barely getting anything at 3.x volts.

I just filled my kanger unitank with a 2.7 ohm head, with ry4 double, 50/50, 18mg, and right off the bat at 4 volts it was burnt, a bit lower and I get barely anything and just a bad taste.

2Ω @ 4V = 8W... my upper limit in my comfort zone with cartos
2Ω @ 5V = 12.5W... toss time

In my experiences, most cartos I've used can not handle 12W. Nature of the beast. With cartos, once burnt, toss time!

Your problem could be the 50/50 juice ratio. What delivery device/juice combo has worked successfully for you in the past? What has changed since then? Are you using Kanger branded coils in your tank or generics? Have you used SmokTek dual coil cartos with good results in the past? What has changed since then?

I use 50/50 juice in 2.0 ohm Smok dual coils, I get PLENTY of vapor - more than i've ever gotten out of a ProTank.

It's either a bad one, or it's not primed right. I'm going with not being primed right.

I second the primed right. I use nothing but the Smok cartos. 3 ohm single coil dual punched. Finally figured a perfect way to prime them and probably should blog it. ECF taught me that once burnt, toss. I have learned that the cartos burn easy at higher power voltage so I always experiment and adjust accordingly. With the 3 ohms, I go up to 8.5 ohms and don't have an issue. Prime and try again for sure.

That video is so not how I prime my cartos. I hold them at an angle, and I drip into the polyfill, giving each drop a second to soak in; I rotate the carto like a gatling gun so each drop is dispersed evenly. I avoid the center air hole. After ten to fifteen drops, depending on the viscosity of the juice, I flick it HARD like a thermometer. I continue this drip/flick process until it comes out of the little hole at the bottom of the carto. Not the 510 connection end, but the little laser-punched hole at the bottom.

I did the drip and flick thing with my non-punched that I use on my Ego then just the other night I did the video way again and honestly I can't tell any difference. I do however think the way in the video was a little faster and less strenuous on my wrist.

I do almost exactly the same, except I drip in 3-4 at a time, around the edge, covering the entire end of the polyfill. Then I do the thermometer shake every couple of fills until it leaks - pop into the tank, fill, :vapor:.

It's a little bit of effort, in exchange for hassle free vaping until the carto is spent.

I encounter young people all the time who are eager as hell to jump into rebuildables, and when they ask me what I use, I show 'em my carto tank. "How does that work?" they ask. I tell 'em you have to prime the carto first, and start to explain how, and I always see their eyes glaze over. "Yeah, no, that's too much work. But tell me how to do them rebuildables! I wanna blow HUGE clouds!" And I just shake my head....

I fiddle with my thingy when AT ALL possible. It's just the simplest way to get the job done. If you fiddle too much, just blow it out and you're good! I do have a couple non IBT that really don't fit the thingy well. And with those, I... Actually I haven't used them in awhile. Lol.

I agree! fiddling with my thingy is by far the easiest and cleanest way to prime a carto, and pretty much the only way I do it these days! I used to use the condom method, but after getting my first IBTanked, I pretty much fiddle my thingy exclusively!
