These have been part of my "on-the-go setup" for a long time now, and I decided to stock up on some spares. The last tanks I bought were the updated polypropylene version which have a slightly frosted effect. I don't really like the look of it (especially on the "clear" tanks) but they're tough as old boots. I ran some Pluid through one of the older clear polycarbonate tanks and you can all guess what happened there! No such problems with the polypropylene version.

I noticed that Liberty Flights had some crystal clear tanks that were specifically advertised as polypropylene, so I picked one up with my last order. Well, it arrived today and...it is crystal clear! I'm beginning to have some doubts, though. I have it in the back of my mind that you just can't get clear (or "un-frosted") polypropylene. I mean, even the polypropylene tank on the RSST is frosted! Can anybody put my mind at rest? I'd rather not have to waste 2ml of Pluid to find out! ;)

I've never seen polypropylene to be anything but frosted in appearance. I looked on the Liberty Flight website and the only cartotanks that I saw listed are the typical frosted tubes. I did not see any listed as you described.

Someone has posted here on ECF that the newest version of ViVi Nova tanks are using polypropylene and that they are clear, not frosted. I've not seen any of these being sold at the usual websites that I frequent yet to comment on them.

Unless you want to be a guinea pig and be the first to test one of these for ECF readers, I would be wary to place a known tank cracking juice in a clear plastic tank, especially Pluid which is one of the more volatile flavors of the known tank crackers.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Baditude - I was hoping you'd chime in on this one! I think perhaps you were looking at the DCTs on the US website. You're right - those are definitely the frosted tanks I'm used to using. The clear tanks I bought recently came from Liberty Flights UK. My apologies - I should have been clearer in my original post. Annoyingly, you can't link to an individual product on the Liberty Flights website, but here it is:

Smok Tech DCT

Second item down "510 DCT (3ml) - 1.5 ohm - Clear - Tank Kit". There's a picture to the right of the reviews - click to enlarge. I'll take a better picture of it myself when I'm back at home.

I'm happy to be a guinea pig, though - I think quite a lot of people would be interested in a clear polypropylene tank, if that's what it proves to be. I've got a couple of well known tank crackers in my juice collection, so I'll keep you posted.

No need to post a pic; I was able to find it on the UK website from your link. You're right, the tube material on the clear tank looks "non-polypropylene like", for lack of a better term. The colored tanks look like the typical frosted polypropylene.

Thanks for submitting your tanks to possible meltdown. I'm interested if these tanks are really immune to the tank-cracking juices. :D

I have been using this one for my out and about tank and so far I have had no problem with anything I had put in it. Granted I had never tried Pluid before but I do like my citrus flavors and they are fine in this. after about a couple of months though on my first one one of the caps did break but I did get my 10 dollars worth out of it.

Thanks for the insight, cocacola. It's a shame that LitecigUSA doesn't state what material the tank is made of in the product listing. It's the old style DCT with the delrin caps, so I think it's probably polycarboate.

There's a bit of a misconception that all citrus flavors crack polycarbonate tanks - certainly amongst the vapers I know. I think the general consensus in the community at the moment is that it's mainly citrus flavors which use highly concentrated citric acid that can cause problems. I picked up a bottle of lemonade flavor juice when I started vaping (think it was either Vermillion River or Freedom Smoke USA), which I put straight into a Vivi Nova - no problems at all.

Out of interest, have you tried any of the juices on this list (link to follow)?

Let's make a list of juices/flavors that crack tanks - Most recent update as at 29 May 2013

I haven't had any problems with Roar Vapor's Hawaiian Sunrise yet (3 days and counting), and I've just filled up another tank with Roar Vapor's Strapple. Both of these juices are included in the list above. If all goes well with the Strapple, I'll try some Pluid.

No its polyprothelene just found this. I remember seeing it when I ordered the tank but forgot about it..

LiteCigUSA Blog: How to Fill Your Smoktech Dual Coil Tank

Interesting! I thought the delrin caps went out with polycarbonate. For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure the tanks I'm using are polypropylene - based on previous experiences with Hawaiian Sunrise and Strapple in polycarbonate tanks, I don't think they'd have held up this long if they weren't.
