what does it take to be selected for testing/free review products ? im not really looking to get them im just wondering what people have to do to get to that stage ? is it just posting heaps of reputable reviews and getting a decent following/reputation ?

Pretty much. Then you sign up for Skype and start having conversations with the sales reps in China. They'd want links to your handiwork (Youtube, blogs, etc.).
