I'll look into this when I have more time. As long as the firmware comes as a downloadble file, then it doesn't matter which OS your PC runs, as it should be able to interface with the mod via USB anyway... in the worst case, there is always VirtualBox.

VB is where I was heading, but need more research. A few Supposed easy installs of Android seem to be by some less than Qualified Persons publishing the information. Unable to answer some very basic concerns over issues when attempted.

You'll need it if you want to upgrade firmware. All the devices currently in stock anywhere usually have firmware version 1.06, latest version is 1.09, and they've made some significant improvements.

So what you're saying is that it is physically impossible to communicate with the device and push firmware file to it, without using smok's update tool/software suite? That doesn't sound right...

Eh, well, not all that bothered to be honest. My daily driver is a Folio 9470m running ArchLinux, but I have two Windows machines at home and more at work, so... in the worst case, I'll just update there. :)

So we are waiting on SJ to announce how to win one of the last 6 right?
Did I miss anything else :?:

Since this runs to the end of the day today we're going to leave this one open until it's done

To confirm, 6 left to win - I'll be announcing how they can be won later today :)

That's why I learned to get away and read a book for an hour before trying to go to bed.... staring at a lit up screen is not conducive to sleep.

A good book gets my brain going more than a screen does, lol. If I start reading, it's likely I won't stop until many hours later.

technically I think that's the team I belong on...I want everyone who has been here to get one BUT cooladdict, you and a select few others get my special wishes in these matters...its not that I don't like other people its just natural for me to hold a special wish for the people I chat with most regularly...

Right on. Not sure of shipping time to the US but it's gotta be at the least 12-14 even 20+ days, so I'll start playing at that point.

Eh, US still should be faster than my middle of nowhere.
Most stuff that ships from China gets delivered anywhere from 20 to 30 days. Don't recall receiving anything faster than that.

That's why I take my "sleepy pills" (dramamine) and have a cup of warm-milk cocoa when I start reading, or I'd be the same. :D

Right behind you...

These days, I do 99.9% of my reading via an e-reader, so I get the worst of both worlds...sucked into the novel, and reading in the dark with the LED backlighting.
