My smok m80 semi died on me today, so I ordered myself a sig75 this afternoon, so I'm just considering it a massive bonus if I manage to win one.
I take it you've all got your own devices already, so you aren't desperate for one.
If you are desperate for one, don't be such a tight a*#, and go out and buy one.
You smoked before and could afford tobacco so why is it you've quit cigs and can't afford to keep an even cheaper habit?

^That right there is exactly my analogy.

You can grind (post a lot) and increase your chances (not confirmed that's how the giveaway works, but everyone is definitely trying to connect the dots that way)

Or you can sit back (not post) and still have the chance of getting something.

You basically just summed up what I said

Effort may yield better odds.
Sitting back may yield lesser odds.

But the common between the two:
Just playing gives you a chance.
Not playing at all will not.


So how can you get upset at the prolific posters because of this?

How is this wrong? This exactly like a game.

The difference is, in Diablo, if one person grinds like a madman, he doesn't reduce the drop rate for the one that can't/won't grind. Both are rewarded commensurate with their efforts. It's not a zero sum game.

Here, every bit of "grinding" on this thread reduces the odds of somebody more casual winning. Zero sum in terms of tangible rewards.

Hence my proposal to make this two separate contests. One that continues to favor the prolific, and one that gives the less prolific a chance for a "rare drop" that isn't impacted by the efforts of the more committed.
