Any chance anyone has found out the pitch/thread size of the thumb screws?

Seems like an easy fix, replacing it with a simple Philips head screw. A M2.5 maybe?

Gotta finish that before investigating the threading. Yes I could empty it but it's Swedish fish flavor so I'm going to enjoy this greatness so please forgive me if it takes some time.

Can't help with your decisions except to tell you what I've experienced so far. The only drawback I've found is thumbscrews for anchor points for your coil. At first I didn't care for them but after playing around and popping in a dozen or so coils they became a non-issue for me. I always have a leatherman around so a small twist to lightly tighten the thumbscrews with the pliers is simple.

The trick with any small threaded thingy of course is not to get carried away---snug is fine...tight is too much and will contribute to stripping one or the other.

I's also got two of smok's "Caterpillar" RDA's that I got around the same time I got the RSBT that I'm also am extremely happy with and between the two types of devices I think I'm set for a while on Atties...Not even looking for any others.

I've got a caterpillar; I'm not a huge fan of dripping, but wanted an easier way to taste new stuff, and those lil 510 drippers just didn't get it for me, all I really taste is hot metal. But I hate dual coils in every form, so I just build it with a single, and it has to be high-ohm, open (not compressed), and with a pretty fat diameter, usually 7/64, to be able to use it at all, the TH is so intense. But at least it's good for tasting, if I'm very careful not to hit it too hard, or try to inhale it too deeply. And they really are nice-looking attys, with the gold band.

Also single coiling my caterpillars Andria. Been sticking to between 1.7 and 2.0 Ohms for now..at least until I upgrade my power supplies ;) Gives plenty of vapor with a good single coil so I'm in no hurry!

The one I finally settled on, after quite a few experiments, is 1.8 Ω ... it heats fast enough, at that resistance, that I can take short, quick hits, so the TH doesn't knock me back against the wall or bring on an asthma attack. I tried some between 2 and 2.5 Ω but they heat up a bit more slowly, so I'd have to take a longer hit, and wind up with WAY too much vapor for these asthmatic lungs. But the caterpillar is definitely a real improvement over those 510 drippers; much better taste, and I really like having the ability to customize my vape with the coil itself. I was so *scared* of the coil building idea, but it really makes a huge difference, being able to customize the vape to suit yourself, rather than depending on "stock" coils that just *can't* suit every taste.

Andria

EDIT: also -- I just realized when I went to check the resistance -- one other thing I'm doing, to keep it cooler when it reaches my lungs, is that I use the long driptip that's actually a "cartotank refilling driptip" -- so by the time it gets to my throat/lungs, it's already cooled off quite a bit. It makes the Caterpillar look like some space-age toy, but it works well. :D

Any one else doing cotton as wick on the rsbt? If so, how much are you using? Are you filling the whole deck?

I've been using the cotton like in a kayfun, running a piece through the coil and tucking the tails down the sides and to the channels. Started getting a slight burnt taste after only one draw at 12ish watts. I've had to close the airflow down a lot more than I would like to help draw more liquid in to the wick.

I could never go over 9w, using cotton, without getting a burnt taste. Which is the main reason I tried the rayon, which lets me go pretty much as high as I like -- which for me is only about 10w, but I know others have used *much* higher wattage very successfully with rayon. It just wicks so much better (and apparently gives warning just before a dry hit (if using it in a dripper)).

My kayfuns have cotton in them and my target on them is 5v with 2ohm coils, so 12.5 watts.
The one kayfun is actually 1.8 ohms right now so that's about 13.8 watts at 5v. Never had burnt tastes on those.

Well then, it's easy to see that you're a great deal better at cotton wicking than I ever was. When I first tried the "real" organic cotton, I was very impressed with the taste, compared to everything else I'd tried, but cotton is just so finicky about the "right" amount... I found it very difficult to get right at all, and then, only if I didn't go above 9w. :( Fortunately I'm not a cloud chaser, so staying below 9w really wasn't a problem for me. But it's nice with rayon to be able to boost it to 10w, if I'm really craving max throat hit. But I guess it's the near-total lack of "finicky" with rayon that most impressed me, although the taste is also excellent.

Not a cloud chaser either. I just like the warmth at 12 watts. Plus I get a decent throat hit. Maybe about 3 months ago I was only at like 7watts, then I moved up to 10 when I started rebuilding and then I felt comfortable to step it up a little more, but anything more and I'll be coughing until I pass out almost.

I dialed back my wattage to 11.5 for now and I've got 3 airholes open. At 2 holes open, I could hear all the extra liquid coming to the well and I was getting a wet vape. I'm going to try pulse firing it at 12 too to see if any difference.

After this tank is emptied I think I'm going to try a vertical build and cotton up all the well. If I have no success with that I think I will have to consider the rsbt a lost cause and pick up another kayfun since I know that works. But I really do love the ease of this tank and capacity related to size, holds more liquid yet smaller than my kayfun with nano body. Plus this already being glass is a huge plus since with a kayfun I'd have to also buy a glass kit.

Don't give up on it without trying the rayon first -- it really does wick better! Cotton is "absorbent" but rayon has much better "capillary" action.

I think I saved it! New coil .07" diameter with cotton through it and then additional cotton astound it in well. Pushed it back where it touched coil on sides with tweezers to open space to air hole at bottom. Air flow is full open and I'm at 12.5 watts like I want. Flavor is great, I've got the warmth I like and vapor is good. No burnt taste, fingers crossed.

Looked at wick from previous build. It wasn't even burnt. However coil was gunked. Wick may have been to tight for coil too.

So. Anyone has a fogger v4 and can compare the draw?

Mainly looking to see if it's possible to have a comfortable lung draw at the largest airflow setting.

Don't have a V4 but I lung hit this all day long with it all the way open (5 holes showing). I can also hit it pretty well with only 4...at 3 holes I need to valve in a little air around the drip tip on the draw.

Haven't had one dry hit yet either using single strand of 2 mm silica out the channels and tripled up 2 mm at the coil

HA and I am sold.

Now if only someone could figure out the pitch of the thumb screws so that I can replace em with nice Philips screws

I've just been using my bigger tweezers to help secure the thumb screws. It works well since it has teeth.

I figured I could do that. But knowing what a meat head I am, it's only a matter of a month or two before I strip those suckers and render them completely useless.

And besides, I have this tiny screw drivers hanging on my key ring. Would be nice to have one tool to rule them all. (LOTR fans anyone?)

Well I went back to the OP and viewed that slideshow on this baby, and I am sold. That is the best driptip I've ever seen on ANY tank, I hate metal tips. And I don't think I will have too hard a time with the thumbscrews, if I make sure to trim my nails -- which I've found is necessary for a lot of the small bits I have to deal with, with all these things. But, my tool-happy husband really has got an enormous box full of every kind, size, and type of screw you can imagine, so I might be able to find 2 matching phillips that could replace the thumbscrews, if I find them troublesome. Or, he might be able to make a slot in the top of those thumbscrews so a regular screwdriver could be used; he loves to play with his portable drill, and has about every kind of drillbit known to man. When we needed to run a coax cable thru a wall, he says, "no problem, I can do it with THIS," and shows me this astonishing drillbit about as thick as my thumb.

Anyway... all that in a tank, for $8 less than the price of the Tobeco KFL+ I like best (Ironvapin, on eBay). And the other half has a 12-day-pay-period check coming up... :D If I can finally lay these stupid cigarettes back down, maybe he'd buy me the rsbt to thank me -- he hates the smell of cigarettes! :D
