When you say you're using SS mesh covered with Ekowool....how exactly? Do you have the Ekowool wrapped around with mesh wick? Or have you made a sleeve for the ss wick using Ekowool? I've done some google image searching and from all the photos I'm getting, I just can't tell.

The Ekowool for wicks thread is pretty informative, the page I linked has a couple Genesis style rba set-ups, hope this helps :)

With my short experience with them, when this happened the coil needed to be readjusted. Either empty or tilted so the wick is out of the juice. Then fire it and look for hotspots, shorts out hot legs. I guess the coils settle in after the first tank or two. After that I haven't had to mess with them.

Thanks heaps! Right now I'm giving the Cobra clone RBA from gotvapes a shot. It came with an oxidized wick pre-installed. It's.....uhhh...not so great. Resistance is 1.8Ohms, and fires and produces a respectable amount of vapor, but the top cap is threaded and the air hole is not close enough to the wick. So the hits are wicked harsh.

No biggie. My main focus is the RSST anyway.

I have one of those, they are horrible. I had to really work to get it going, drilled the air hole, re-drilled the wick and fill holes (all to 1/16"), and make sure your wick doesn't touch the bottom of the tank. Since you have an RSST, I wouldn't bother with it. :)

Yeah I've abandoned it. I'm sticking with the RSST. Might give the AGA-T or the Titanium one a shot, when funds allow.

I have one of those too. It's my "beater" set up on an old Vamo. I got mine a while back at a B&M shop that is owned by some friends of mine. So, when I picked it out, I opened up 5 or 6 of them, and eventually found one that had the air hole lined up with the wick. They didn't mind...LOL. I took the factory wick and coil out, tossed it, and built my own. I drilled out the air hole to 1.2mm. It works ok, for when I'm out and about, but compared to my other RBAs, it's just meh.

If you're talking about the did/cobra clone.. I finally put mine away. when it worked, it was awesome! My problem is that it's too easy to short it out.. that silicon insulator on the bottom.. it's so flimsy that it keeps wanting to push up into the atty and causing a hard short. Even on a device without an adjustable 510 connection (like a provari) it still wants to short. Forget using it on something like an electric angel. I've got too much other stuff that works to keep working with something that doesn't. My rsst is my probably what I use most often.. since I only use my genesis attys on mechs.. I build them at .8ohms... and I have to use 28g.. which I hate because it's thicker and hard to get my coil to hug my wick without gaps. The rsst is the easiest genny that I have to do this. I can get the DIDs set up and working but it takes me a little while and it's just easier with the rsst.

FYI the washer that comes with the RSST is steel, probably zinc plated. It may rust eventually & some have reported that. I replaced them with 316 washers on mine.

Might as well add in this thread too....

I shortened the insulator 25 thou & installed a 2.5 x 1 mm oring under. No more leaking.

I dropped one of mine a couple times and thought I had cracked the tank. Just went back and took it apart and found i broke the little white thing in the bottom that the center post screws into. See the bottom picture from dark's post.

Anybody know where I can get one?

I got my first RSST from Exhale Vapors. It had the 510 threading issue but they include a replacement base with the correct threading. Try contacting them to see if they will sell you one of the bases with the yhreading issue for the part you need. Otherwise I might be able to machine one out of delrin.

Washer is M3, fit a bit loose cause the shaft is smaller dia than the thread that it needs to fit over. I looked for somthing with a tighter fit but didn't find one. Thought about making my own but it's not a big deal & not worth it.
Thanks, now to source out a local supplier for those, $15 shipping for $6 of washers seems excessive...

Try Mcmaster. I get all my hardware from them but they normally don't sell in small quantities. Whenever I place orders for just various hardware shipping is just under $5 & always next day delivery, not sure about your area though. Sometimes ebay has good deals too.

I should be getting an rsst from the classies soon. To break myself in I built two evod heads with 500 mesh and nailed it on my first tries using the pulse method. Will the rsst be more difficult or will it be old hat to me considering my success with the mesh in evods?

I've not attempted to put mesh in an evod head but I find the rsst very easy to set up.. if that tells you anything LOL

LOL you allways find me Donna don't ya ha.

I may be getting one tomorrow. This guy put a couple on the classies and he lives in the same city, I'll meet up with him near his place.

If I like it I'll save for a high end like a zen.

Completely forgot about them, thanks for the reminder. :)
