Now for the price and marketing blurbs it looks like a decent device BUT I have had not 1 but 2 brand new ones act very weird.
These are the Smoktech SIDs (purchased about 2 weeks ago) running with on a Panasonic 18650B, Protank 3, 2.0 ohm coil

The first sign was on the second day it just wouldn't fire or go into the menu. Click click click and nothing. It was like the battery wasn't in it or dead but it was fully charged. Took the battery out put it back in and all is normal. It has now done that three times in the last week.

Today, it now says SHORT on the LCD and won't fire (same battery same coil) take the battery out wait 5 secs put it back in and every thing is fine. Everything is new battery, atty and coil, well just over a week old now.

I run an eVic myself and never had any issue like this with it. maybe once in over 2 months I had pull the battery from some weirdness on the screen but that was just once

For you SID owners out there ... Is this normal behavior for the SID?

Not sure if normal, but I have an 18350 SID that acts very much the same, has since new. I don't use it much and only at home because I don't trust it. Mine will also reboot for no reason, then work fine for a while, then act like I just put a new battery in it. I don't have an answer, just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

Sigh ... I was afraid of that ... Thanks for letting me know. I guess this is just normal for them then. If i had known that I would not have gotten them. I mean I do understand the concept of you get what you pay for but I guess I expected a little more from it. I have both the wife and my friend asking me WTH; like i am the expert or something LOL

The only issue I ever had with the SID was a finicky button which started occurring about a month after I got it. Sometimes it would fire, other times go into the menu. That sealed the deal for me and now it's just a pretty paperweight.

I know when I researched the SID, not all 18650's were a good fit, so maybe try a different battery. Just make sure it's a button top. I used aw imr's and they worked well.

Here's a vendor that sells genuine aw's:
