This is a formal message to all vapers'. The Smoktech SiD should be considered a waste of your time and money. I have had 3 SiD mods and have finally learned my lesson. I am a nautilus tank user, therefore I need and variable voltage mod. The SiD was great for about 6 months. Then it stopped working. I took it to the vapor shop for repair and they can't figure out what's wrong with it. They said it looks perfectly fine in the inside. All the parts look new. But that it just won't come on. Every SiD I have purchased hasn't made it past 6 mo. So here's a fair warning. If you buy a SiD expect it to just quit on you. But what do you expect for $50. Smoktech you should work to figure out why your product is a piece of junk.

Sorry to hear about your issues!

I've had 2 for 6+ months and they work fantastic.
What type of batteries where you using? Not that that should matter, but thought I'd ask all the same.

My 1st one, the pin got pushed down too far, but that was user error with a crappy RDA. I ordered a second one, then found a fix for the 1st. the 1st is tempermental, but I think that's because I was jacking with the pin and messed it up - the positive post that comes out of the bottom of the control head (touches positive post on the battery) gets pushed up so it will nolonger make connection.
did the B&M compare the control head to a brand new SiD control head?
For $11 from madvapes they have an "ego easy head" that basically is the sid with an ego control board. If you are using clearos/cartos from the manufacture, it should be a good backup device.

My 2nd one is great! not my primary device as of a month ago because I upgraded to a hana clone, but still keep it with a kayfun on it.. (built around 1.4). it still serves my purposes, but it is a very tall mod, so not my favorite device any more.

Both have survived many falls from various heights on various surfaces (concrete to carpet). I broke a few drip tips from it landing tank down, and dinged up the bottom battery connector from bottom down falls, but no biggie.

I got it because I didn't want a device with cryptic error messages. All the reading seem to be accurate (verified with a multimeter). It says low battery when the battery is at about 3.5v (that reading is on a battery tester, not while the battery is under load).

I liked a lot of the features, but it is nice to have a device that shows you all the readings you care about at a glance without dealing with a menu (dna 30/yihi sx style).

Another issue I have with it (looking back) is the cost... the mod is $50, which is great for any 18650 mod, but as a first device that means you will need to buy a few 18650's and a charger - putting you up above the $100 mark very quickly (assuming 4 batteries at $10 each and a quality $20 charger). not a big deal if you plan on buying more 18650 mods in the future. Its also more crap to carry around when traveling. I think an MVP2 would have been a better choice... but again with the odd error codes and weird menu functions. I hope that new chip they are having Evolv make for them goes into an upgraded version of the MVP. MVP is also max 11w, which is great for manufactured heads, but I was getting my feet wet in RDA and wanted a bit more range. for the price it was a good mod.
