I still use mine as my home device (although the new Provari is taking its place for 510-connected attys) and have no complaints at all.
I got mine today!
This is my first APV .
Been only using it for a few hours. Pbusardo does a good review on them.
Some have had problems with it when it first came out, so be sure to buy from a reputable vendor. Maybe SmokTech has all the qc issues worked out
Mine is black, but not rubberized ego finish like id hoped. Oh well. Seems to be a solid unit.
I didn't think the menu was tricky IMO.
Also, people talk about crunchy threads. They aren't perfect, but I didn't have nearly the crunch people were describing. Again, I think smoktrch may have worked out a lot of the issues since they were released 6 mos ago.
It seems like it is good for what it was intended for. Again, pbusardo really sold me on it for my first APV. The price helped too, found mine for 45.
First off, sorry to hijack the thread with my own issues but I didn't see an owners group for the SID and since that's the topic of discussion here figured I would jump in.
I picked up a SID from someone off eBay, don't know whether to regret it or enjoy it as I'm starting to see a problem.
First off, the device doesn't have SID on the tube, but I was assured it was authentic after receiving it and noticing. The seller has no negative reviews, so I tend to believe them. That part didn't concern me as much until I started using it. The menu system looks 100% right, down to the shortened words on parts of the menu. Day one I charged up the battery (panasonic 18650 flat top), which I knew already to be used. The SID powered up, vaped without issues for the most part. At one point I went to vape, nothing. Looked at the screen and fired, nothing. I figured the battery was dead because I had been vaping a while. I removed the battery, tossed it on the charger (only one I have currently) and let it go. Once charged I started vaping. Shortly after it did the same thing, unresponsive. Again, removed the battery and tossed it back in and it powered up and vaped no problem. This has happened several times now on different tanks/coils so I don't think it's shorting out. It should so the warning if it were.
Any ideas?
Last week while visting wife's sister, she deceided she wanted an SID. Within an hour of use she was complaining about it misfiring. Swapped in another battery with the same results. She returned to the B&M and exchanged it for another. Later that day the new one was doing similar misfiring. Returned this one as well but this time the replacement was a VTR.
I had been considering an SID but based on her experience I've deceided to pass on SID's.

The newer Sids do not have anything on the tube not sure about the other issue though.
S.I.D.s are known to stop working all of a sudden. Had 2 of them do it to me. Just unscrew to bottom cap to brake the ground connection, reinsert the cap & you should be good to go. Also, the firing button tends to start crapping out after 6-8 months of regular use. The voltage & wattage are quite accurate either. This has been my experience. But for 35-45 bucks, it'll do. For the gritty treads, I've found just a dab of Vaseline works wonders.
