Self-described super hero Flaming Carrot was another favorite of mine from the 80's, largely because creator Bob Burden's 'Flaming Carrot Comics' were the strangest and most deliberately off-beat comics I'd ever read. FC was just a guy with a pistol and a nuclear-powered pogo stick who fought an endless stream of surreal villains while uttering incomprehensible and frequently monosyllabic dialogue.

My inner comic book nerd can't resist, so I'm going to have to share my favs too :p Many have already been listed by others, so I'll do two I haven't seen yet.

I'm a huge Alan Moore/Neil Gaiman fan, so I'm going with Rorschach from Moore's "Watchmen" and Dream/the Sandman from Gaiman's "The Sandman" :) Both are non-traditional "heroes", and I really love that - makes for complex, interesting character arcs...

Oooh, but I have so many favs! I'll go with Superman 1st, because of his great strength, ability to fly and x-ray vision!

It's extremely difficult to pick JUST one, isn't it? Good thing you don't have to for this contest :toast:

I'm loving the variety! These selections from everyone are excellent!

In the early 90's, DC's Vertigo label rebooted an older comic book hero into a modern psychedelic horror masterpiece called Shade The Changing Man. Rac Shade was a hero born into the body of an executed serial killer whose power came from insanity itself, through an alien artifact called the madness vest. Shade was a favorite of mine because he barely had the faintest clue what he was doing most of the time, since his stability, appearance and entire reality was subject to change with little warning; much like my own at that time.
