I have lost two 650 mAh eGo batteries die on ce3's. I really liked the flavor, vapor, and all-day quantity of juice. I am okay with the rubber stoppers, but I am mystified as to the cause of the dead batteries. They totally fried the electronics with a burnt smell that a month later still stinks. i saved them because the batteries themselves are probably fine, and might use them in a mod sometime. I have switched to boge's and kangers since then.

Back to the original question: WTH is the deal w/ the ce3's killing eGo batts?

I wish I'd known about this weeks ago. I've been using the Smokymizers, also from MyVaporStore, exclusively over the past few months and I'm now sitting here looking at 4 Ego batteries and one Ego passthru that no longer work. I feel really dumb but it never occurred to me that the ce3's were at fault. I'm not sure my batteries can't be revived though. They still charge and light up, but as soon as I put a carto on them they start blinking as if the battery needs charging - which it doesn't. Is there any hope?

Wow, this is complete news to me. I have been using the smokymizers I got from both Hitliquid and from Discountvapers on my ego batteries for some time now and I have not had a single ego battery die on me or even show any signs of failure. I would really like to know more about this though should they find a root cause of this happening.

Great thread Erinspeed and lets hope someone can figure this out;

I remember Totally Wicked recalled their first batch of Smokymizers because some of them were found to have a defect that shorted out their version of the eGo. It sounds like there was a short in them somewhere that seemed in particular to blow out the switch in eGo batteries. I don't know how widespread it was, nor if it should happen in the most current batches of the devices.

From what I read about them causing shorts, it's due to the posts on them protruding too far out. You screw it on which presses the center post of your battery in too far causing it to short out. I may be wrong about this but that's what I've read. I've never tried them and don't have a desire to do so because I got tired of the ce2's and all the tinkering so the ce3's didn't appeal to me. I'll stick to my boge and dual coils. Boge for the ego's.

i had a 5 pack of CE3 and my eGos blinked sometimes with 3 of them, there were parts of threads between the silicon washer and the positive contact. my eGos survived, the CE3 went into the bin.

I really, really like the CE3s. I do like my batteries more though. I can say it is the switch going out, not the battery. I dissected both batts I fried, they were several months old and pretty rough looking from carrying them to work. So I figured why not? I already bought back-ups awhile back. The internal batteries both read good on my DMM and the PCB where the switches are mounted are visibly burnt. Funny how a $2 part can ruin a $25 battery, huh?
