smokymizers killing ego batts. Why?

I had a CE3 kill one battery ( I think ). It appears that the centre part of it was crooked (when looking at it vertically) So it never sat at the middle part properly. The rest of them appeared ok and I haven't had a problem with them so far. There is one though that appears to fit snug so to speak so I don't screw it on all the way in fears that it will push it in to far and cause a short.

Okay, I'm lost. If the center contact is lower than the threaded outer contact, or if it is off center, then it will dead short? Am I getting this right?

Glad I am not the only one! I tried some CE3's that I got a while back and killed two ego batteries in one day! Not using the rest of them for sure now. But, I did get really good vape off them before the battery started STINKING!!!!!
