Hello all!

So a new shop, Smoque, (they sell online, also: smoque.net) opened up in Chicago, and seeing as I live close and work closer (across the street, actually), I have been in a bunch of times and tried (and purchased) a bunch of their flavors.

Here's an article from a local online publication about their recent opening, and has a lot of info about them in it: Link
Basically, The place is run by Jared and his friend, and they make all their own juices in house. They're incredibly nice and they make some damn good juices.

So, without further ado... here are some of what they have to offer, and my reviews:

All the flavors were hit off an eVic and vivi nova tank set up... I've played around with different wattages/voltages/ohms, etc, and there were no changes to the juices aside from the default effects that all juices get. None of these have burned up, or out at higher voltages, or couldn't get going at lower voltages. Personally, I tend to stay in the 4v ranges (depending on atty resistance).

My Ratings:
0 - Bad. Stay Away
1 - Not the worst thing in the world... If you were desperate enough, I guess
2 - Okay. Just, okay.
3 - Good. Put it on your “I’ll try it eventually” list
4 - Great. You should definitely try it!
5 - Amazing! Skip the small sizes and go right to the month-long supply.
5+ - Holy $#%*!!. Sell your car, your house, your children... whatever it takes. Buy as much of this right now as you can! Now... Right now... Do it.

Mountains of Do (Mountain Dew) (18mg), 75%PG/25%VG
Overall: 4.5 / 5

This flavor was a complete surprise to me. I don’t like the canned caviteer (yes, I just made up that word by comboing “cavity” and “buccaneer”), so I wasn’t expecting anything good from this incarnation of it. I’m glad that I tried it, though, as it has quickly become one of my go-to juices.

It tastes like Mountain Dew, but the juice isn’t so heavy on the sweet, which is a nice reprieve from the soda. What makes this juice special, and the surprise, is that has has just a hint of menthol... not so much that you get any menthol flavor, but just enough that you get that cold tingle on a nice full throat hit. The end effect is actually quite refreshing, like drinking an ice-cold soda on a hot day.

SmoqueRY (RY4) (18mg), 75%PG/25%VG
Overall: 5 / 5

I love RY4, and there are a lot of variants out there, and I would put this one up against the best. The SmoqueRY is very caramel-forward, but not overly so, as many RY’s are. Caramel is is definitely prominent, but just underneath it, you can taste some of the lighter notes... like just a touch of that “Camel tobacco” flavor. Those softer “tobacco” notes keep this RY from becoming a palette-ruining caramel bomb.

The throat hit on this RY is a touch softer than some, as it’s a “lighter” RY, which is a good thing for being able to use this as an “all day,” as well as not gunking up your equipment as fast.

Cinnapear (Cinnamon & Pear) (18mg), 75%PG/25%VG
Overall: 5+ / 5

This may be my favorite juice out of all that I have ever had. The pear side of it tastes more like a real pear as opposed to a pear flavoring, and is the main element to this juice. The cinnamon is at a perfect level. You can taste it enough to clearly identify it, but it never outdoes the pear, even on repeated big hits. However, if you “rapid-fire” a few hits, there’s enough cinnamon present to start really building a tremendously powerful throat hit.

It’s that “variable throat hit” effect that makes this juice so very unique. I can wait a moment or two between hits and really enjoy a nice smooth, delicious juice, or I can speed up and get some incredible power from it. It really becomes two juices in the same tank. Two fantastic juices.

Vanilla Custard (18mg), 75%PG/25%VG
Overall: 3.5 / 5

There’s not too much to be said about this one. It’s a fairly straightforward flavor. It’s a custard with bit of vanilla, which is a nice choice as vanilla tends to bury other flavors too quickly. With the heaviness of the creamy flavors builds up on your palette pretty fast, making it more of an “after dinner” vape.

If you vaped this only as dessert, it’d rate it a 4, but as an “anytime” vape, I’d give it a 3... hence my 3.5 rating.

Caramel Coffee (18mg), 75%PG/25%VG
Overall: 4 / 5

This juice is another mostly straightforward one. It’s more caramel than coffee with a “cream” buffer to it. It’s a fairly “big-flavor” juice, but it doesn’t coat your tongue, so you can enjoy it for extended times. I would say it’s more like a Stabucks-style caramel latteccinofrap-thing than it is like just a cup of coffee with vanilla in it. It’s a nice complex combination of simple flavors.

The actual vapor gets a bit of thickness from the caramel that lends itself to a nice hit. The juice is also a bit thicker, meaning more care is needed for you equipment, but does in no way detract from the fact this is a solid flavor.

Pineapple (18mg), 75%PG/25%VG
Overall: 3 / 5

Just to be clear, this is not pineapple the fruit. This is exactly pineapple the Lifesaver candy. It tastes just like the candy. When I was a kid, pineapple Lifesavers were my favorite, so there’s a certain nostalgia to this flavor for me. Without those memories, I can’t say how I’d rate this differently.

On the “technical side,” the vapor and hit are very good. It’s not a hard-hitting juice, but for something so sweet and simple, it does quite well. In the end, it comes down to whether or not you want the candy or the fruit. If you want the candy, this is it.

There are still a bunch of flavors to go, and I know they are working on more, but luckily, proximity is on my side. I'll keep you guys updated as I get around to writing up more juices, but I just wanted to help out the local B&M and hopefully raise their awareness around this (great) community!

I'll keep an eye on this thread, so if you want to know about any specific flavors, just let me know and I'll hop across the street and take some notes for you guys.

Lastly, get some of their Cinnapear. It's incredible!
