So, I've been vaping since the beginning of April. Got hooked up at a local B&M store that, at the time, only sold the ego batteries with t2's, t3's, and protanks. They make thier own liquids as well as selling a select few from national juice makers as well as DeKang.

I remember when I first started, I absolutely loved thier tobacco flavors and a few of thier more fruity flavors. However, I've experimented, altered my t3's and moved on to genesis style atomizers as well as a dripper and a silica based tank. I still go back and forth between my evic and the Nemesis (vv and mech). I've noticed that the t3's provide virtually no flavor for me any longer; there's only the faintest hint of flavor until burning happens.

With the gennies and the dripper it's almost pure flavor. And with those pure flavor devices/setups I'm finding that the first juices that I absolutely loved are so revolting it's not even funny. Those awesome tobacco flavors? Yeah, those all taste like medicinal garbage. Even the non-tobacco flavors at the original shop tend to taste more medicinal (not perfumey, think good ol' green nyquil kind of medicinal)

I've also tried other B&M flavors as well as big chains like Halo and Voda and they all have this slightly medicinal and very fake flavorings. Good juices tend to taste good in the gennies and the dripper. I've come to like HHV for all day vaping and a few other smaller places like Moon Juice and and a few others.

Curious if that's been happening to others as they progress with thier vaping? Are you finding you still like the original juices you started with or did you simply not venture off to taste others?

I guess the next question I have, if this is natural, why do the chains make such crappy juice? The good juices tend to be less than one quarter the cost of the crappy stuff and they are 1000% better. Is it that hard to source good ingredients?

<Edit> I should mention that I've tried steeping, which mellows, but does not eliminate the medicinal tastes. I have experimented with DIY flavorings as well as experimented various juice brands.</Edit>

I found right off that a lot of vendors tasted medicinal or chemical to me. I have also encountered flavors I loved -that 4 mos later taste like ..... (Not that I tastes butts- just a guess! LOL)

I think all juice is probably bad to someone dependent on taste buds. My best guess is its either a brand of flavor, VG, PG or Nicotine.

As your taste buds heal after the assault of smoking you just regained the sensitivity to taste it.

I have been through many evolutions in my juice preferences during my four and a half years of vaping...

I started by gravitating towards bakery and coffee flavors.
And every now and then I would find a tobacco flavor that I could tolerate.

Over time, the bakery flavors got to sweet for me, and I started picking up more chocolate-based flavors.

Then I started really getting into NET tobacco flavors.

Then I stopped liking the coffee flavors, to the point where I have a couple that sit untouched all the time now.
Then I stopped liking the NET tobacco flavors.

All this time, I couldn't deal with any fruit flavors except the occasional blueberry muffin.
I keep on trying various forms of fruit flavors, and it just doesn't work for me still to this very day.

Right now, I am almost to the point where I have settled on two liquids that make me happy on a daily basis...
--Halo Tribeca
--Halo Prime 15

And then I discovered Tasty Vapor lemon poundcake, which just makes me really happy when I feel like having it.
And then I tried some Sinful Pear from HHV and somehow it magically made me happy too!

My NET flavors from Vaperite and HHV sit around without being opened much these days.
And my coffee flavors are getting moldy.

But I'm starting to get an itch for some of those old bakery flavors like Banana Nut Bread and Almond Horn.

I don't know if there is an endpoint here, just a continual change of preferences.
I'm just glad I can afford to buy tons of samples while only liking a small fraction of them for very long.
:)

It's been six months for me today and my tastes have changed some. I avoided tobacco flavors for the first two months because they were just all awful, and I went with fruit and bakery flavors. Bakery flavors are too sweet, so I dumped them. Then I found some good RY4s, then some great ones. So the last four months have been consumed with RY4 searching. Then someone suggested so other tobaccos like HHV Dragon's Fire and Huntsman, Smooth Criminal from Ahlusion, and Southern Classic from Halo.

Today I vaped Orange Creamsicle from Ahlusion mixed with Monkey Business from Panama Vapor. Right now I'm vaping some Mr vapes Ry4. In about an hour I will vape the juice I vape every single night: Dragon's Crown from ECBlend.

So I'm not sure my tastes have changed, I just think I've found a lot better juices because I understand what I am inclined to enjoy.

My tastes have gone thru many changes over 16 months...my own personal taste bud war. Those buds are ornery little suckers. War first broke out after 2-3 months, and waged for several months as I searched and searched for that elusive tobacco flavor. I finally settled on a couple of fruit flavors and me and my buds had a truce for a while.

The buds crossed the neutral zone again a few months ago and it took several battles to achieve another truce. Our current treaty stipulates that I vape unflavored juice for most of the day,

Curiously, I have found only one ally in this war...a rather unheralded juice called Sweet Swish (think cheap cherry cigar) from HHV that I found rather early in the war. This seems to be the Swiss equivalent of juices...neither I nor the buds have objections to this juice, but it's only a stopgap while we negotiate an ultimate solution.

Hopefully you will have more successful peace talks with your buds.

My taste buds change all the time too. I started off with fruit juices and absolutely hated bakery flavors. I'm not sure what's going on but lately all I want is the bakery flavors and not so much the fruits. I use to gag on cinnamon roll or custards and now that's all I want. Also vaping too much of the same flavors tend to mute that flavor after a while so I try to change up the juices several times a day (thus the need for more gear :vapor:). I use to love Bobas Bounty, Gorilla juice and can't stand them now. So basically now I try to search out new juices, not so much for trying to find the ultimate flavors but just to try to mix it up a bit. There's some really good juices out there but I think I just need to find them when my taste buds allow me to enjoy them.

This thread scares me a bit because its something that has been lurking around in the back of my mind. My taste buds did the typical quit change (been thru Vapors Tongue twice) and I now feel like its leveled out. Mine has a lot to do with sense of smell since I think my nose was thrashed by smoking so much. I couldn't really smell anything and its been slow to come back.

But after what seems like hundreds of juices and finally liking enough to rotate, not get the dead taste bud thing and happy, I'm worried if this will happen AGAIN where I have to find new flavors. I've been vaping Halo Voodoo for a real long time and still love it. It changes flavor profiles so much that it keeps me happy. And if Voodoo, AVEs Gorilla Juice or GLV Deadly Sin ever start tasting bad, I think I'd cry.

Well, thanks for the input.

This feels like something more is going on than just simple evolving tastes. I loved spaghetti-o's as a kid and don't really like them much today, but I can still eat them and remember that I liked that flavor as a kid. Stuff I used to love but no longer find enjoyment in is more of a taste-bud evolution. This is much more dramatic and much more severe. I actually like what I remember the flavors to be, I just cant get past the pure chemical taste that some of those first flavors seem to now have.
