Hiya people!

First time poster here (obviously). I've been lurking for a few months, but after every google search involving the word "vape" lead me here, I've decided to suck it up and join. Looks like there is a ton of insight provided by very supportive community here; just what I like.

Brief history of my smoking:

  • Smoked analogs (picked the lingo up from lurking) for 5 years, 2-3 packs a week, with random stints of quitting on and off.

  • Close to the end of my smoking cigarettes, picked up a My7's e-cigarette at a local mall convenience store and knew that it was healthier than a cigarette for obvious reasons. Started with high nicotine dosage cartomizers (carto + atty in 1, as you already know). Still enjoyed analog cigs more, but still wanted to quit them.

  • The normal 2-piece e-cig wasn't quite enough for me, so I stayed with My7's (who is now SS Choice 7's) and purchased the Hybrid Vision kit. 3-piece PV which provided a much heavier throat hit, albeit not too consistently. I have been off analogs for about 3 months now, and vaping with the Hybrid Vision for over 2 months.

My experience with Choice 7's isn't as terrible as some reviews on this site has made them out to be; although that could be because I have had nothing else to compare it to. The packaging is great, the design is sleek and simplistic (which I LOVE compared to some ugly-as-sin vapes), and 80% of the time, it functions perfectly. Also, the low-nicotine Menthol e-liq is great.

Yes, I know the batt and atty [were] over-priced. Yes, I know the liquid is too. I also have had a handful of problems I am looking to resolve through this site, but I am almost positive that it is simply the atty causing all these problems (overheating, leakage of eliq thru air passage, etc).

Either way, I am excited to regularly visit the site and contribute, as my office desk job is pretty slow sometimes.

Cheers :2cool:

Welcome to ECF! the best place on the web to learn how to drain your bank account ... err i mean learn all about vaping

I came prepared. ::insert Shut Up And Take My Money image macro::

Welcome aboard. Best advice for a noob: Get a Joyetech eGo kit.

Yes, that is what I have read and what I plan on doing eventually. I am a little upset about the 7's not being as consistent as I wanted them to be, but they will eventually be a great stepping stone in my advice to others.

Appreciate it already.

Welcome!!! This is the place. Madvapes is the "Walmart" of vaping IMO. (no I'm NOT a spammer!) I agree with the above post that an Ego is a great place to start. Maybe a variable volt ego with a low-resistance cart. It says not use less than a 2.0 ohm cart on an ego, but I've been doing it for YEARS and it's been fine. Try an ego 3.7 with a 1.5 or 1.7 ohm cart with a higher nic total. That'll do ya fine. BE CAREFUL! Increase slowly when in comes to Nic, and wash your hands if any gets on you. Feel free to ask me any questions. I've been vaping since 2009 and have seen a lot. Trying to get a little more involved in the forums here.

and here is my favorite new recommendation for new vapors who are serious

Kanger Mini Protank 2 Starter Kit -VV

has 2 (count them 2) vv batteries and 2 (yes 2) mini protanks plus everything else you need

(if this was available when I started out I would have saved about $200 (in your case $100))

and welcome to the ECF

So 'vv' stands for Variable Voltage? And this is important because the level of Volts can either simply not be enough to produce a result, or be too high and possibly fry your juice, burn out, etc?

There's better pricing on the evod kit for a non vv

Kanger Evod Starter Kit
(not sure if it still works but try code 10off in checkout)

They are quick to ship.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am trying to cut to the chase and purchase one that will be up to par on all levels. Is it even worth buying a non-vv? Is a vv considered to be better than a non-vv in every way except price?

I still have a lot of research to do.
