I have been using my trusty kr-808 for about 2 months now, but I have been itching to try a new model so I purchased an eGo from pure smokers ($50 for complete two battery kit can't be beat).

It will be my first time using anything besides a cartomizer and as I have seen, using atomizers is a whole new beast. I of course will read the user manual, but assuming it's translated to English like most manuals... I may not gleam much use from it.

So has anyone wrote a primer with advice for using a atomizer based e-cig? I hear people complaining a lot about burnt out atty's and such so was looking for some advice and do's and don'ts.

Check out this thread...

And here is some more information that might help...

Dry atomizers, flooded atomizers, and wicking
Basically, you want to keep your atomizer happy with plenty of juice, but not too much as to flood it.

A good sign that it's flooded is that it gets a little harder to draw on and you get little or no vapor.
Flooding it, however, won't hurt it at all, and you can just blow out the extra juice.

Letting it get too dry, on the other hand, is not good for the atomizer supposedly.
But regardless of whether it is bad for the atomizer or not, you still don't want to do it.

You can tell it is too dry when it starts to taste like crap.
A nasty sort of burnt plastic type of taste.

One reason it might get too dry is if you burn through the juice faster than it can wick up more.
That is why people experiment with different kinds of filler materials to use in their cartridges.

If you take only a drag or two every now and then, you should be fine.
But if you use these like a cigarette, the wicking process will have trouble keeping up.
There are ways to deal with this, and people have different methods that work better for them.

And of course, when the cartridge is running low on juice, it needs topping off for this reason.
And many people eventually turn to dripping to avoid wicking issues.

You don't have to give up cartomizers, you know. You can use regular 510 cartos, LR 510 cartos, mega eGO cartos ... or even Kr8 cartos (with a 510-to-901/808 adapter).

When you do use the 510 atty, follow DC2's good advice and kristin's (author of that guide DC2 linked). You may want to supplement that by watching tutorial videos, e.g., those that I included in Part 3 of my 510 guide. [Anything having to do with the 510 battery is, of course, not applicable.]
