As most of you know, the Aspire Atlantis tank is having an issue with the ceramic wick material, that appears to flake off, and can possibly irritate the throat (and perhaps do much more damage).
Hey op, thanks for posting this -- really interesting. A few notes:
1. He's using Pluid. This is not a normal eliquid -- this will literally eat through o-rings and plastics normal tank crackers are fine in. He even says he knows
delrin will get eroded by this stuff, just not as fast. He's right that peek would last longer, but I'm not sure many expect their tanks to have peek insulators, and
this stuff will dissolve delrin drip tips.
2. He's saying Kanger is using a silicone gel, but it's obviously not a silicone gel. It's a hard plastic used in many RDAs and such as an insulator in a state of being dissolved.
3. He's aware his insulator is being melted, yet still using it? And just scraping the residue off once a day? For the most part as this residue gets heated it'll be the equivalent of minute amounts of burning plastic (I think) which isn't a good thing. This is entirely unwise.
4. Fiberglass particulates inherent in a wick, and an insulator degrading due to Pluid, aren't equivalents in terms of safety.
5. There's no reason why the insulator shouldn't be delrin at it's price point.
It'll be interesting to see if people see this with other caustic eliquids (but not pluid level) -- if so, something is up with the plastic they're using. If not, Kanger just chose a cheaper insulator and pluid has added another head to it's wall.
