Started vaping a month or so ago with blu (I know, I know), overall not terribly impressed, but at least it got us started on a healthier alternative to smoking. Switched to a Joye 510 from Dragonfly.

LOVED it.

Still do, though mostly through a passthrough. I guess either I vape too heavily or should've bought new batteries by now, 'cause they just don't seem to produce enough vapor for a long enough period of time. Then again, it could just be that a standard atty produces so much vapor on the slightly higher voltage passthrough (I tend to test everything we buy with a voltmeter).

Has anyone tried a passthrough with a 12v to USB car adapter? We have one (can't think of the brand off hand and just too lazy to check at the moment), supposedly a 'super power' adapter, but it doesn't put off enough voltage to power a single passthrough (it has two ports). Pity.

We've tried juices from Johnson Creek, HALO (I didn't like what we ordered, Bella Valencia, but my spouse was very impressed - we'll order again) and VaporStation. Currently 'hooked' on their RY4 with an occasional drop of Amaretto Peach (yum!). Have a ton of other flavors (we bought ten in all - though I'll let my dear spouse review them on his blog-kajigger), but I've only tried a few. Honey, yum. Rosewater, yuck.

And now I suppose it's obligatory:

Howdy, ya'll!

What up dog? Yah, it goes that way for everyone. Just when you think you got it down it starts to fall apart.

It's all good brother, it's the learning curve.

Just keep at it and it will work itself out. Ask us tons of questions, we like to help, it gives us something to do and makes us feel better at the same time.

Just my two cents, but atties are disposable and so are batteries. You can get a mod so batteries are cheap, but atties are always going to be part of the budget. If you can buy a big battery mod and a bunch of atties.

Okay, I've found a suitable USB car adapter at Amazon (1 Amp USB output) for pretty cheap (around $20). But I'm also considering either a Joye stick or an eGo.

I'm leaning more toward the stick, since the batteries are replaceable and it can even be used while charging, but god how I love my passthrough...

And yes, BradSmith, I know atomizers and batteries are disposable, but my goal ultimately is to get the most vape for my buck as possible. I will use an atomizer for as long as it keeps working (despite some pretty raunchy tastes at times).

Sticking with the passthrough would solve the battery problem, though they don't make a USB cable long enough to wander away from the truck without being snapped back to it like a chihuahua running full speed when it reaches the end of its leash...

I recommend buying a more suitable transformer (if you google 5v, 2A transformer, a few results pop up) and replace the plug with a female USB adapter.

The above power supply does not put out enough current; a 510 atty will draw around 1.5 amps at 5 volts.

With an eGo, you probably won't need a car adapter or passthru. I would'nt recommend investing anymore money into the 510 (180mah) system. As cyberwolf stated, an eGo can be used with most of the equipment you already have. Just need an adapter for the charger.

I have two eGos still going strong after 3 months. My only monthly expenditure is juice and attys, with attys being the bulk of the cost.

Just found a 2A car adapter at Vapor4Life for $10, but also ran across their cartomizers (something I would really like to try - at $9 for 5 even if they don't last terribly long it seems like it might be a good investment), but I think they're 901 instead of 510, and thusfar I do like the performance of the 510...

So many decisions... This would all be much easier if there were fewer options, but it probably wouldn't be as much fun either!

Kirssstens, an eGo does sound like a good idea (if it vapes similarly to that of a passthrough), as it would allow me to be untethered (and solve the chihuahua problem) but still enjoy a higher voltage vaping experience.

CES, an even better one is to visualize a cat on the end of a leash. Not even running, just on a leash. *bounce, run, yank, bounce*

mean jb.... ;) poor kitty.

just for that i won't tell you (but someone else will) that you can get an adapter to use cartos on the 510. V4L sells the kr808d1, so you want a 510 to kr8 adapter, or is it a kr8 to 510 adapter (it does make a difference). good thing someone else is going to tell you this.

I agree with BradSmith in that all batteries die sooner or later. A big batt mod with generic style (protected) are cheaper to replace than a big batt mod with a proprietary batt.
Also , although a PT with an in-line bat doesnot give you a 5V vape(that I know of) you would be able to disconnect it from the lighter and wander away from the truck vaping with it .
