So I got a REO

So I got a REO Mini 2.1 yesterday. I am stupid excited about getting it, however while I wait for some more funds to get me an RM2 I figured I would just mod one of the V4 ERA clones I had laying around to work for BF, done and done, works perfect, however I had to mill down the bottom of it to fit inside the cup on the 2.1, I am assuming that it is bc of it being a clone and just slightly bigger on the bottom, I guess. SO no big deal

So now that I got it in there and now I am having another issue, it's almost like the REO doesnt want to fire when I press the button or it is not getting a good connection. I cleaned it and all of that, however I didnt notice any spring or anything when i took it apart. Is that normal?

Any help would be great and super appreciated, I love it when it works right. Here is a couple pics of the little beauty

In looking at your picture, you are not using the AW battery. (It would be red, not yellow) If what you are using is a flat top battery, that can be the problem. The AW battery is a button top, and that is what the REO is designed for.

The only way I get my flat tops to work reliably in my Grand is to put excess amounts of noalox on my firing pin. Otherwise I get tons of arcing.


I should also note that I have since stopped using flat tops in favor of the performance my AW's are giving me.

The only spring in the REO is under the battery

Like malkuth said if you are not using the correct batteries then you shouldn't be surprised at having less than satisfactory results. Clean the contact point on the pos pin by scratching it with sandpaper or a file. Don't be too gentle sanding that contact point. Apply some Noalox to the pos contact point.

Congrats and welcome Jeremy. It's about damn time son. Man, I can't imagine your pain having that little beast and not being able to experience its true badness. Yep, I have only run AW IMR batteries in my REOS. I'm guessing that will cure your issues.

Oh, and you have to add your name to the "roll call" thread. There are more than 9 of us in Georgia, but not everyone knows about that thread.

Get your ohmmeter out and make sure your atty is making connection in the 510 connector. Measure between the switch tip and the positive screw in your atty.

It is, if I fiddle with the battery it will fire up nicely but I have to fiddle with it. I might try some smaller orings than what I have right now though

Blast! I just picked up 4 flat top Panasonic CGR18650CH in (way early) preparation for when I buy a Reo Grand! I do have a boatload of tiny rare earth magnets kicking around - Viable solution?

I dont recommend it if you want to get the most out of your mod use the aw imrs . The mechanical switch is designed around the aw imr

Thanks Rob, its crazy having someone who makes the mods come right on and tell you what you need. I am starting to see why certain REOnauts are as outspoken as they are about a mod like some of you guys are.

Congrats on getting a Reo. Best mechanical mods around in my opinion. I had some of the same problems your experiencing when I first got mine. You will figure them out and your Reo will become your favorite mod, I can promise you that.

I only have AW IMR's and it has worked faultlessly since getting it.

I actually accidently broke off the neg post on the first Atty messing with it so I changed the orings and put on a different one and played with the pos connector on the REO and voila, vaping like a champ.

Yup, I have been converted to a fulltime REOnaut. Now just need to get an RM2 and I'll be set, maybe a Grand in the future as well. Definitely made me have buyers remorse for all the previous mods and junk I have bought. Thanks to SupeX and Pdib for a friendly push
