So I got this Smoktech Redux...

So I bought this smoktech redux clearomizer for $3.99 at MV on sale a while back...
And I've been using it on my 900mAh eGo battery andd... No. I didn't like it.
It reminds me of a vivi nova. All the same problems. It has trouble wicking..
the draw gets too tight, it doesn't wick, you taste the wick and not the flavor...

So I'm brainstorming, trying to figure out a way to get more juice to the coil.
I started realizing that every time I unscrewed the mouth piece & put it back...
I was getting good hits. Good strong hits with good flavor and heavy throat hit.
So I guess I found that depressurizing this clearo helps it vape better...

I also read 1000 times that cutting the wicks helped, sooo, I took it apart.
While I had it apart, I figured I'd try screwing a vivi nova head into it. Didn't work. Doesn't work.
WONT work. Soo, I cut the wicks shorter and put it all back together.

Long Story Short:
So I'm vaping on it and its vaping heavenly. I fixed it by cutting the wicks!! (I thought)
Then I look over at my bed stand and I see that the little soft rubber cap is sitting there...
And I'm like WOOPS! I must of mixed up the vivi nova top hat with my ST Redux top hat?
THEN I look into my little clearomizer and I realize that there is NO top cap over the coil head. lol.
So, its working FLAWLESSLY. I'm getting NO leaking (I'm only filling it half way)
If I do start to get a dry hit I just shake it, juice gets into the coil head, and I'm good to go again.
In that way, (WITHOUT that little soft rubber tophat) I'm basically dripping. Its a dripping baton. lol.

So Idk. If any of you stuck around long enough to read all of this, you should try it. It works GREAT. Of course you cant put it in your pocket upside down, or leave it on its side when full, but who needs to anyway?
I find that as long as I only fill it half way, nothing leaks out. And it hasn't flooded yet.
I'm getting SUPER hits every hit now. Its probably a lot like a bottom fed mod.
I'm keeping the coils super wet by bypassing the whole wicking part and just soaking the coils.
Actually, I haven't even had to shake it. The wicks are doing well without that cap piece.

Nope. It made a heck of a fog in the tank but didn't improve the wicking a bit.

its not too bad on my vivi nova...
i think its improved upon how it was working with the little rubber top hat on.
but your right, it does fog up the tank and the vivi nova tanks are definitely more prone to spillage through the mouth piece when tipped. I wonder if cutting the top hat 1/4th and riding it up a bit would help the juice enter the little holes easier?

I'm using 2.0 vivi novas btw.

It's a common mod of the silicone bit to trim it around the wick holes...but that was mostly done on the version 1's that had an issue with that bit crowding the wicks. Hey, give it a shot...as long as your careful and only trim a bit off, you shouldn't damage anything.

yeah its working well with my vivi nova... you just have to fill your vivi nova up about half way and whenever it gets dry, you tip it horizontally and the juice will find its way into the coils without flooding them. also, if you don't like the fog forming above your e-liquid level in the tank, just take your hit, take your finger off the button and continue inhaling for 2-3 seconds.

Didn't really notice any big improvement on the one I have on hand here but it's a pretty thick juice so I knew I'd have to tip a lot when I filled it.

well I'm not saying cut around the wicks. thats not what I'm doing. I'm saying, getting the coils directly soaked from the liquid by taking the cap completely off. But I figured maybe if I cut it toward the bottom, the juice would get sucked into the coil slots. But, its working REALLY well with the cap off if you allow the juice to spill over directly into the coil head barrel.

But, unlike the redux, the vivi nova is going to spill out through the mouth piece BADLY because the tank is cylindrical in shape rather than tapered at the top, which allows juice to go strait for the mouth piece hole (when on its side) unlike the short little bank that most clearos now have.

Yeah...think it's just not necessarily the ticket for the Nova but it's kinda cool it work that well for your redux.

It does work really well with my smoktech redux and I'd have to guess that it'll work JUST as well with ANY TOP COIL CLEAROMIZER that utilizes replaceable heads!! Any top coil replaceable head clearomizer that DOES have a tapered tank... (the tank gets skinnier toward the drip tip) its going to work well with. The tapered edges of the cylindrical tank prevent leaking through the drip tip by preventing juice from immediately reaching the opening of the bottom of the drip tip.

with vivi novas... not so much. BUT... it does still work well with my vivi nova IF I know what i'm doing and I make sure not to tip it so much that juice will have a chance to reach the bottom opening of the drip tip. As long as I'm cautious of that, man oh maan, its vape heaven


What I do:

1.) take that white/clear top hat off of your coil head.
2.)I just tip it, do a quick flick of my wrist to get some juice into that coil head barrel, and then vape, and its like dripping onto a freshly topped off coil every time. MMMMM I'm loving it.

This has probably already been found out and discussed 1000 times and its gotten lost because n00bs aren't going to like fiddling to this extent... But for those of you that have followed through this thread and you understand what I'm saying, DO IT.

oh boy... the more I try to explain myself the more I realize that we're at a point in vaping where new vapers or vapers that aren't mechanically inclined or aren't inclined to fiddle around... miiight find themselves wondering what the hell we're talking about. lol.
