I just received my Smoktech Redux clearo in the mail today and am having some issues I cannot seem to fix..

I decided on this clearo,as my go-to Vape site has been out of stock on Nova coil replacements for weeks now,and after a failed MegaVape BCC attempt, I decided on Smoktechs version of the Stardust. I've used Stardusts before and have always had success with the design til this new one I just got.

it comes stock with a 1.8 ohm head, but I ordered a pair of 3.0 ohm heads as I like to vape high voltage on my Ego Twist. Well, I filled the tank, let the juice soak in and started vaping. First few drags were good and then the burning taste came along. I was only vaping at 4.0 ohms! The old 2.8 Vivi heads I used let me vape comfortably even at 4.8 voltage...

no matter what i did, the taste kept coming after about 3 seconds of vaping; tried adjusting the tightness of the clearo on my battery, adjusted the tightness of the coil head on the post before reassembling, and kept tilting and turning while vaping. I'm using the same 50/50 juice I've been using for months, too, so I doubt it's anything to do with that.

BOTH 3.0 heads are having this problem. Can someone please give me some tips or insight on this?

You may have ordered 3.0ohm heads, but have you actually checked the resistance on them?. Sounds to me like you got some low resistance ones and now they are burnt. I use those clearos all the time, and have never had a problem out of them, to me, they are the best ones I have used so far. I did burn a wick once when I did a dry burn after cleaning one, and no matter what you do after that, you are going to have a burnt taste, just had to throw that one away.

Yeah I'd say check them on a digital multimeter if you can get your hands on them. For awhile the reported resistance & actual were generally way off. They main reason I gave up of stock heads.

Imo they have wicking issues too. Maybe adding an extra piece of wick or two on top of the coil could help.

Different makers wind coils differently, and you may not be able to get good wicking with those heads at normal voltages. I have had a number of Vision Ego/Stardust copies that tested at 2.4 ohms yet couldn't work with a 3.7 volt battery without burning and/or giving off a plastic taste. I've had no problems though, with Vision heads running at 1.6 -1.8 ohms, so the tightness of the coil winding and quality of the silica wicks may be the cause. Good luck finding a solution, but be careful not to spend a lot chasing that solution if you already know what clearo/tank works well for you.
