well so far, i just rinsed the tank in hot water for 5 minute. don't know if that is enough.
as for the wicks, thinking of doing the same.

is this usually enough? i wonder if i have to go the extra mile. tia

Rejoice in the protank! Upon unblocking I recommend a full hot water wash, let air dry, attach atty, fill and enjoy! I vape my protanks between 3.8 -4.2 volts,depending on the juice. One atty has lasted over a month

buy a gallon or two of DISTILLED WATER....88 cents a gallon at Walmart.

Run it under hot tap water (capping the drip tip with ur fingertip)....shake it out....repeat a few times

then.....drop it into a bowl or Rubbermaid container of Distilled Water, fish it out with tweezers....shake it out, fill it with eliquid and vape a clean sanitary tank.

Distilled water will take away the tap waters chlorine and other additives your city has put in your tap water.

I do remove a flavor wick for any juice with 50/50 vg or higher. Busardo's video will show you how to do that

make sure when you rinse it you check the center. I picked up a new one today and when i rinsed it out i found a small metal shaving in it like some other people have. This is my 4th one and it is the only one i have found it in so i don't think it is to common but just a heads up.

Just unscrew the base rinse everything with hot water and let dry.
or if you're like me and can't wait for it to dry, then grab the tank in your left hand and the base in your right and run around the yard waving them in opposing circles (better air flow that way) for about 3 minutes. Or until you see the neighbors/passer bys dialing the fellows in white coats. Which should be right around 3 minutes.

Seriously, after you rinse it out, run a q-tip through the center tube (on the tank part), this will clean out any ahh residue (for the lack of a better term).
Also take a paper towel and clean the 510 connection (the thread thingy on the bottom) and don't forget to swab the connection on your battery.

Well, I suppose it could happen to any device attachment. But it's sad...

I wash, then rinse with alcohol, everything before use. Mods, tanks, coils etc.
For the main reason, you have noooo idea who had what during manufacturing/shipping of the item/s you just got.

Anytime anything is mass produced contaminates are a given.

Thanks for the heads up guys! Ordering my first Pro Tank next week. Didn't know about the possibility of the shavings, and as I always do, I will wash it out and run around the yard waving my arms as described above! LOL, that is soooo totally me! Wizzlefits are you my new neighbor or something???
