It seems that nicotine in cigarette smoke can only be absorbed by inhaling into the lungs, while nicotine in pipe and cigar smoke can be absorbed by through the membrane lining the mouth. It's based on the PH of the smoke which is determined by the curing method. (cigarette smoke is acidic)

I have no idea if the smoke/vapour from PG or VG is acidic or alkaline. Anyone?

Well I would think since vapour only transports the nocotine and can be used to transport deliver other vitamins chemicals etc that it literally lands wherever it touches. But I may be wrong. But I do know my heart races when I spill any juice on my skin whatsoever or suck some on my tongue. :)

Good question, I guess that'd explain if it was transferred like a cigar or not. If it is, woohoo :D

Answers to these questions are found in the Health New Zealand reports. You will obtain some nicotine through mouth absorption, just as you do by using snus or disssolvable tobacco bits in your mouth. But you get a whopping 98% of the available nicotine per puff when you inhale to your lungs.

And that route puts the nicotine in your blood stream and on its way to your brain much quicker.

The vapor's PH is slightly alkaline, BTW. That really isn't a major factor to help or hinder mouth absorption.

So if I don't inhale...am I still getting a good shot of nicotine? It feels like it, but I want to make sure it's not a placebo effect.

Throat and chest hit don't mean much to me tbh.

Kagaden, to make it very simple, if it feels good and it satisfies your nicotine craving, I would have to assume you are getting the nicotine. Placebo effect or no placebo effet? Does it really matter if you are getting the nicotine if your craving is being fulfilled and you are enjoying your e-cig. Just keep doing what you are doing, and as long as you are staying satisfied, keep doing it it. As they say, "Do what feels good"!!

If you were just curious as to the scientifics of it, then disregard my statement!
