So my birthday is coming up on Thursday and I decided to give my Reo it's first cleaning. It's been about two weeks since I got it off the classifieds, since then I've gone through 6oz of Menthol tobacco and about 4oz of Root Beer. (Not a heavy vaporer I guess). So today I:

Clean the atomizer that was used with the Menthol tobacco by leaving it sit in Rubbing Alcohol (91%) for a few hours and then washed it off with warm water and is now sitting drying.

Soaked the intake tube in a 6oz bottle of Rubbing alcohol and put rubbing alcohol in the catch cup and squonked the air out of it, and let it sit for a couple of hours. Then I ran water through the tube and catch cup and blew out the water.

Lastly, tossed the o-ring which is now sitting in the alcohol.

Oh! I also cleaned the firing pin and applied a small dab of Noalox on the firing pin.

So now my Grand is back together and waiting for the drive to school. My main question is...
Did I miss anything?

You can put the whole REO (it is a Metal right?) under the running warm water and rinse everything. It will take a little longer to dry where the parts sit behind the delrin insert. But a rinsing will remove any dry juice that may be in the bottom around the spring.

The rest you did sounds great! I don't clean mine that often. Not a total cleaning like that. I clean anything around or in the catch cup and inside the bottom when needed. I don't mind the flavor carry over when filling with juice. The tubing seldom gets flushed.

They do look better and work better with a good thorough cleaning.

Yea, it's metal. Delrin insert? is that the plate held in by a screw covering the firing pin and the other thingy (technical, i know)? I figure I'll clean the atty's everytime i finish a bottle (hoping to increase life span) and a full clean maybe every 2-3 weeks of use.

Yay! Happy Birthday to Me! (and all the other people born on March 22)

5/16 plastic tube attached to whatever fits your faucet.
I just open the faucet slightly, and come back in a minute. Never have any flavor residue.

+1

That's exactly what I do when I clean my metal REO's.

Happy Birthday!

My favorite way to clean the feed tube-
Pour shot of everclear into shot glass
Put feed tube into shot glass
Drink shot using the tube as a straw

A whole shot to clean one tube? Well, I guess I better stop by the local liquor store and grab a few bottles! Me got some tubes to clean! Works for me! Um.........wait.......37 shots? Maybe I will only do the metals this week!
