So many names, what is the difference?

Hi all, I am not new to vaping, I have been vaping since April. I have been using Krd808-1 batteries, both manual and auto, of different sizes, and have tried many different companies. I also use a wide range of stuff, from prefilled cartos (mostly to vape while at work on an auto for convience), blank cartos, clearos, and even some 901 attys for direct driping for juice testing. these all still work fine for me, but i am starting to become a hobbyist and am very interesting in bigger bats, VV, VW and moding. In fact I have ordered a Volt spinner and it will be here Monday :). I will be ordering a couple non VV bigger batteries from other companies to try next week as well.

I know the basics of all, and then some, but I am at a loss with eGos and the 40 other names for these types of batteries. I have spent a lot of time trying to find answers online, but the info isn't easy to find. i did find some, but i would like someone to fill in the blanks.

Okay so for starters, these batteries have 2 threads if I'm correct, the inner and outer threads and e-go refers to the outer threading? I know E-go is suppose to traditional refer to the original 510 design, but I have found you can have the 510/eGo (inner 510 threading) or 808/eGo (inner 808 threading)? I'm not sure if the name is accurate or if the companies mislabbled their product.

I believe I am correct so far, but here is where I get lost. I know different clearomizers can go by 3 or 4 different name :/ for example, and sometimes the companies mess up. Is this what is going on with eGos? I originally thought eGo was 510 thread, and vGo was 808 thread, but I have found 510 threaded batts called a vGo and 808 batts called eGo. This is confusing enough, but then i start finding eGo, vGo, Riva, Leo, Echo, iGo, kGo, and go-go. how much long can this listGo? are all these just different outer threads, similar to how there are many different inner thread styles? I have found some info, but its more reviews of how well they works, than actual information. I'm hesitant to order anything outside of volt, and a few other companies atm because I have no idea if I were to find something labbed an 808/kGo for example, if it would work with my equipment or not. not to mention, there is a serious lack of product description/specifications on most e-cig websites which makes my search extra annoying.

I wish they would just come up with certain naming standards for the whole e-cig world X_X. have 20 different threads, that's cool, just don't have 20 different names for the 20 different threads on the 20 different names of the same exact product, lol. (sorry for the over exaggeration).

The eGo was originally a JoyeTech brand product, and became wildly popular...which in the vaping world means every other company starts copying, cloning, ripping off the design. The eGo was originally a 510/eGo threaded, it could accept a 510 topper or an eGo threaded (the outside threads) which would match up the vanity rings and make the rig a smooth, sleek unit.

The additional eGo, vGo, Riva, Leo, Echo, iGo, kGo, and go-go that came along were mostly 510/eGo threaded until some like the Go-Go started using their own threading so you could ONLY buy toppers from them...
Also models like the Riva were an unregulated eGo, you vaped whatever the battery was charged to, and lessened by use. The originals were regulated at 3.4v start to re-charge (good consistent vape).

p.s. I have an eGo battery that's over 3 years old, still works fine...:vapor:

thanks, that confirmed some of my thoughts, and gave me a bit of new info :). I guess im gonna have an extra hard time with find some cool stuff due to the fact that I use 808 products, and I don't want to switch. luckily they do exsist, it just requires some effort to find them.

I have different set ups for different situations, so I will always use my regular 808s. I still even have situations that call for a setup using prefilled cartos or blank cartos that I fill myself, on an 808 auto.

so, in general, an eGo cone will fit an ego regardless of the inner thread? sort of like the 510/808 drip tips?

If you want to use 808 toppers, just get an 808 to 510 adapter, and maybe a reverse 510 to 808, that way you can use any topper on any battery. Don't drive yourself crazy looking for specific threads, and fighting the connections. Many vendors are not very specific as to what will work with what...:)

I believe MadVapes also sells an e-Go style 808 battery that this fairly cheap and fairly high quality...I've been looking at it for awhile but I have have too much Go-Go stuff (which is a really hard thing to find stuff for...true Go-Go style threading is 808D-3 and was a fad that is going the way of the buffalo so stick to your 808D-1 which is still going strong.) There are a few other sites if you dig around around ECF and google that sell the bigger 808 batteries. But I agree...the easiest way definitely to go after a big 808 batt is simply to buy adapters for 510 threaded batts and mods. You will have much more hair at the end of your shopping experience and much more of your life to enjoy them INHO :2c:

Happy Vaping and Good Luck! :toast:
