My daughter has been on us since she was 5 that we should quit smoking, and while I agreed with her, her mom was reluctant. Now I have decided ecig is the way to go, again she was reluctant.

I explained to her (wifey) that she doesnt have to give up anything and can get the same or more nic content and she is on board.

Now all the sudden my 7 year old says if its safe why cant I have it to? I told her at 18 she can vape all she wants but rules are rules...

How else can I distract or deter her, now that she thinks its safe?

PS I started smoking at 14 knowing it was bad for me.

My 4 year old believes that, if I try to drive anywhere he is scared that they will get him for not being buckled. My 7 year old has a dad who is an officer that I am friends with so she finds them less intimidating. I can't even threaten her with Nats dad cuz she just laughs.

edit: My daughter has a friend who's dad is a senior policeman, she isnt scared of anything she thinks Natalies dad will cover her. That wasnt clear in the original post thanks to my bad grammar.

While they are "safer" than analogs they still aren't 100% safe. Nicotine is still a chemical and is still bad for you.Vaping just won't kill your lungs the way analogs do.

I've got a niece that I spoil rotten. Since I started vaping she likes to sit in my lap and try to catch the vapor. I don't like to let her do this but sometimes she's just to cute for me to say no to. However, I have gotten her to understand that while it's better than analogs it's still not good. It took some doing and a whole lot of explaining. She doesn't really understand but she stopped bugging me so much about it.

Please bear in mind that I'm fond of working with a problem rather than around it, so take my advice with several grains of salt!

Consider getting her a room vaporizer or humidifier: that make varieties that diffuse aromatherapy oils, or even "medicinal" scents like Vicks Vapo-Rub (loooooove that smell!). If it were me, I'd tell her that she needs this kind because she'll out grow anything else way too fast (don't know why, kids really seem to like to hear how fast they grow).

Find the nastiest harshest vape you can and order it with zero nicotine then let her try it. It will taste horrible and make her choke but will not hurt her. She will never ask again. Or you can put something horrible tasting on the mouthpiece and let het put it in her mouth. Something like the stuff you use to stop biting fingernails. Again, she will stop asking. Kids are curious. Cure her curiosity.

I agree! This would definitely work on my kids!

I agree with comparing it to alcohol. It's something she likely knows that she can't have and would make the explaining much easier.

Me too. I had a little talk with my six yr. old son about drugs. Not illegal ones, just the ones in our house: the coffee that Mom drinks, my steamer (as he calls it), alcohol, and his cherry medicine (acetaminophen). They can all be dangerous, we have to be careful. Some help when we are sick, and some are not for kids at all, ever.

I think the problem with kids is once they get it into their heads there is no way of stopping that level of curiosity.
You know your child best and which approach to use.
Sitting and explaining it helps a lot but I doubt you'll be able to prevent the "I'm going to try taking a puff regardless of what you say" thing and I doubt just telling her she needs to wait 11 years is going to change her mind too.

Make a big deal out of it and she'll probably feel even more curious about it. This is really tricky!

Crab juice. Just sayin'. :)

Our nieces got the lecture about this being their uncle's method of quitting smoking. We had no issues during their (short) visit, but our eldest niece was convinced that I hadn't quit smoking and I SHOULD NOT do that in the house and I was POISONING them with SMOKE. :) I don't think we ever did convince her of anything different.

I did conceal all nicotine solutions of any strength (including my DIY 100 mg/ml) in locations they absolutely couldn't get to without a lot of ingenuity. Just to be sure.

Do not lot her vape anything, even with 0mg nicotine content. It will just encourage her that it's acceptable. This is a cigarette alternative. Just tell her that this is an adult thing. I wouldn't even tell her that she an do it when she's 18. It will just upset her because that's not something she has control over and will still want to do it.
