Yeah, I have a couple of Picos and I'm inclined to agree. I don't see how a significant amount of juice gets into the battery compartment because of a little topper leakage. I'm not implying that you're being untruthful- I would guess that if you're finding a lot of juice in there it's getting there through a different mechanism (so I suppose I am implying that your wife might be a bit messier with juice than either of you realize. Please don't track me down and shoot me for insulting her honor ;).)

Meh..... not insulted. I wonder now, could it be that it somehow gets in there through 510 pin connector? If liquid drips to the bottom of the device, perhaps it is not through the cap, but rather through the pin and into the battery compartment?

Hmm- just grabbed a Pico and looked at the battery compartment sleeve. It's hard to say without completely (and probably irrevocably) disassembling the thing, but I don't think it impossible that a leak could force liquid into the battery compartment.

If she likes the Pico, I bet she would like the Swag. It's really small and light, has the same nice rounded contours and feels super comfortable in the hand, has a good, comfortable fire button (I like it more than the Pico), and the raised section will rule out leaks onto the battery.

You can also lock the Swag at a chosen wattage, which can be good if the mod is being thrown around a bit in a bag or pocket or whatever. I'm really liking the one I have.

Here's a screen grab from a Pico disassembly. It's showing the bottom of the body and shows that the cylinder holding the battery is straight through.

It's possible that liquid is sneaking through the 510. But I'm flummoxed as to how juice is getting all through that battery compartment.

The Swag is a nice choice. The Evic Mini is, too. That's also a Joyetech device (JT owns Eleaf), and Arctic Fox compatible.

@go_player disassembly isn't irrevocable. The wire between the positive connection and the PCB and the two wires between the PCB and 510 are short, but with care it all actually comes apart ok without de-soldering. Just don't lose the spring in the +/- rocker switch. [/blush]

What you're describing is virtually impossible. Please understand that I don't mean to imply you're not being truthful.

It would take liquid under pressure to even begin getting past the threads on the battery cap, and that pressure would have to be maintained to get enough liquid in the battery compartment to cause an internal short. It's not going to happen from a casually leaking tank when the mod laying is on its side.

If the wife wants a new mod, by all means go get her one. Let her use whatever reason she wants to, but be assured that there's no feasible path for liquid through the battery cap.
Believe me it's very possible from a casual leak, for I seen it first hand from my wife...it happened over a period of a few weeks . She is lazy and just didn't wipe it as much as she should have. And on top of that, that moisture has crudded the threads, kind of like rust...but it could be getting in from the 510 also, but I doubt it

My OCD would simply not permit such a condition to persist. Maybe that's why I'm incredulous.

Mine either. ..between her leaky tank and burnt juice, it amazes me....I literally have to check the flavor in her tank before rewicking, because if I dont, I'm sure she would just keep vaping till it stopped

Lol... I don't get people like that... it would drive me nuts, and I'm not OCD...

If even a drop of ejuice gets on my mod I'm wiping until there isn't a trace.. then I have to wash my hands because ejuice feels greasy to me... then I'm running around trying to figure out where the juice came from and rewicking if I deem necessary. .. *which is often anyway

I don't do leaks, I don't wait for nasty tasting juice, and I take care of what I own... it takes work to get nice things, not ruining them.

I have little understanding of any other mindsets..

Because it is a hobby for you and I and many others enthusiasts on this forum. To her, it’s just a device that miraculously re-wicks itself every 3-4 days and all she wants from it is to work.

Kind of like cooking to me - I open a fridge and see all these..... .....things and parts and nothing to eat. And then, viola, miraculously to me a tasty meal appears when she touches it.

Hahaha... you sound like my husband - except in our house I'm the vape fairy too!

I do drop in coils for hubby though, in the hopes that some day he will learn how to fill his tank and change his coils. ..

holding out hope! Hahaha

I agree totally with you. The only thing my wife does is plug the iStick 30 in when it needs a charge and vape. I do the rest. And it’s not about being a hobby to me. It’s common sense. The reason I have tools and machines that are ancient is that I maintain everything I own and take care of everything I own, no matter what it is. Money doesn’t grow on trees.

I use 3 tank types. Kabuki clone, N2, T22. It may take me 4-5
minutes to fill instead of 2 minutes. But the N2’s get the bell and tip washed out, bell threads lubed with a swab of juice, blow through with holes open, and q tip put in chimney down to the coil to absorb any juice.

Kabuki gets tank, tip, and top cap washed, lube bottom o ring, blow through, q tip put into chimney down to coil to absorb excess juice.

T22 top cap and tip gets washed, bottom cap removed to get any condensation, and wipe silicone seal at top of coil.

I fill all tanks on a tank stand, and blow into all 510 connections and wipe on the mods.

I don’t get gurgling, flooding, dry or wet hits, or leaks. And since I maintain my wife’s, she doesn’t either. Lol.

I spend maybe 20-25 minutes total during a 24 hour day filling and cleaning the whole rotation.

I also have an 18 year old snow blower that keeps up with the new ones.

I do not think juice is a hazard. Yes, it can damage you Pico in a long run. So, you may want to replace O-rings (worked for one of my Kayfuns). You may want to wick it for your wife, to check if her wicking was a problem. If nothing works, just wait till her Pico dies. It can take a long time. My Pico with somewhat leaking Kayfun already survived about 1.5 years. Hope for another 5 at least. OK, may be just 3.

Have you thought about putting an o-ring on the cap? I'm sure you have extras laying around from a tank you can try. I don't have a way to accurately measure the diameter, but I would guess it's ~20mm. I looked at the cap on my Pico and it looks like there's enough of a lip to pinch the o-ring when tightening the cap down.

You could also consider trying Teflon tape on the threads, but that would probably be a PITA.

And what burns me the most is how often she drops it....she don't use either the pico or that leaky tank anymore , I got her a few really nice set ups now and she keeps dropping them...

What set ups are those, if I may ask?

I now have her set up with a couple aspire nx75-a's and kayfun primes, but I recently told her if she breaks them, I'm not replacing

Tread lightly my friend. If you dropped a plate of food she just spent a lot of time cooking, she wouldn't kick you out of the kitchen and tell you that you can't eat. lol.
