I was at my mom's New Years Eve party and one of her friends were smoking an e-cig. She hounded me all night to try this thing and I only ended up doing so to pacify her. I was suprised (I think...was drinking). ANyway, yesterday I felt short of breath and I know its all those years of smoking catching up with me. I go to the gas station down the road and they sell disposable e-cigs. I thought why the hell not. I brought it home and was shocked it didnt disgust me. So here is the thing, I dont know a thing about e-cigs. Not even a little bit. Read some of the threads on here but didnt really help much. I've been to vapornine.com, greensmoke.com ect but dont what I should try and what I should stay away from. I really need some serious help, please help in anyway you can. Is the Duo better than the Trio? Ahh...lots of reading....too much confusion...he he. Someone just point me in the right direction, thank you so much!!!:p

HI Sandee1321! Welcome to the ECF! Yes, it can be overwhelming with all the information offered. Here. Perhaps it would help if you described your smoking habits like how much you smoke a day, what kind you smoke and what about not smoking is important to you. That will help folks make suggestions that might suit your needs better. There are many types of personal vaping devices out there that address individual needs. Like I thought I wanted a simulated smoking experience when I started....but in the end, I went for more practical means and got a mod (modified personal vaping device). For actual research and a whole lotta reading....this is a good place to start to help with the basics.... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ed-questions-about-electronic-cigarettes.html And whatever you do....do not do the FREE offers! I hope this helped a little!

Hi Sandee1321, I know what you are feeling. I spent 5 day pouring over the threads here and watching videos. Finally I just had to jump in and place an order. I got a Kr808d-1 from cigeasy.com for myself and the Elegant Easy for hubby. We love em! The Kr8 is close to a analog in size and shape. It's a bit thicker and longer. The battery lasts me about 5 hrs and the vaper is a lot more than the smoke you get from an analog. Hubby's Elegant Easy is shorter and fatter. Not sure about the bat time but I know it's longer than my Kr8 and the vapor and flavor are good. Hubby won't give it up for a few hours so I can try it. The Elegant is very classy looking in the pearlized gold. They have it in black too. I'm thinking about ordering one for myself. Hope this info helps a little.:)

Hey Sandee1321, welcome to ecf. Im still a e cig noob but just some info if you care to read. My first ecig I got a 901 tw kit and its good i mean it works but as the week past i got tired of charging the battery and wanted to try something new. So i went and go a Riva this pass weekend and ...... im still waiting for it LOL so Ill keep you posted once i get it but ecig has been working for me and curbing my cravings for a real cig.... I will say its not a substitute for a real cig but it will help with the cravings. Just when you feel like smoking have a eig for how many mins you want, then when you stop the craving for a real cig will be gone so go about your day till you want another cig. Please keep in mind that if you really really do want a real cig ... go and have one its not a sin to have 1 or 2 or 3 a day as long as you are cutting back. Rather take 1 step at a time then go cold turkey. For some it might work that way but for most it doesnt work like that. So 1 step at a time.

Welcome Sandee and glad to have you here. Everyone here has been either exactly where you are at, or very close.
It will take some work on your part, to learn about vaping. In doing so, it will help you so very much in your overall experience with vaping. Making the switch, is truly a life saver in many ways. Although many may suggest a good starting model for you, you still need to read, watch YouTube videos and learn!

This is not going to be as easy as walking into the store and getting a pack of your favorite cig. But the benefits and the enjoyment that you will get from vaping, will really enrich your life.

You have a great support group here and everyone will be here for you.
Congrats on getting started on your journey!

OMG, thank you all SOOO much. I'm just sick of smoking, have a 7 year old son and a 12 month old little girl and would like to live as long as possible. I am 29 years old, been smoking since 13 I would say. I smoke 1-1 1/2 packs a day and my brand is Marlboro Medium 100's. I know how harmful the smoke, tar and 4000+ other chemicals are so if there is an alternative that I can actually enjoy then I am all for it. I just do NOT want to get the wrong product, dislike it and throw the whole e-cig concept out the window. I am excited that this could possibly save my life and I am so thankful to you all for being so helpful. Who would have thought that e-smokers would be so nice and friendly...ha ha. Thank you all so much.

Sandee, based on your smoking history, you should start with a pv that has a relatively long battery life and some juice around 24mg (but you might want to get a few samples higher & lower). Stay away from the heavy ad sites with the fake reviews. You can get a really good non-proprietary kit for $30-$40. Personally, I started with an eGo, and have been very happy with it. Dumped a 40 year pad habit. The current best deal is for a Riva (eGo clone) for $30 from Liberty-Flights.
