So, that's what things really taste like

Day 11 and I am starting to be able to taste things again. I took about 2 days to get to the point where I could smell better, but the taste thing is terrific. It's like everything I eat is a new experience. Oh, that tobacco juice I started out with.... Yuck.
Well done, jwj. Good things taste amazing, but bad things will now REALLY taste bad. Your senses are getting honed. Like if you got lasic eye surgery, not all the girls are gonna look purtier...

For me, the smell sense was, like someone else said, "I could smell a bunny fart in a tornado now..."

Things become way spicier too!
I went to my local pub (for the first time since vaping), ordered up the medium wings like I had done tens of times before, and nearly died!!!

But the best part???

(and I LOVE this part...)

Bacon is now way more, a, mmmnn, Bacony!!!!!

Commercially prepared food actually doesn't need a salt shaker anymore. I can also walk outside and smell things I haven't perceived since I was young, like dirt, leaves, pine straw, and things you have to watch out for or you will step in. The latter is something I wish I could turn off!

About 6 to 9 months into the quit smoking journey it gets even better, until you experience allergies or get a cold. Some people say their allergies come back after quitting. I guess the nasal passages open up and come back to life. Then, they are offended by pollen again. There are over the counter remedies for that, though.

My girlfriend did this to celebrate the return of taste. Can't wait for it to get even better.

Right? I started off with tobacco juice, too. Can't stand the stuff now.

My only fear is trying some of those things that I thought were really good during the time I smoked. For instance, I haven't tried pickled eggs since I've stopped smoking and picked up vaping.

I really like pickled eggs. At least, I think I do. Now that I have taste buds, I'm a bit afraid to try 'em now.

I was outside a while ago and could smell my neighbors cigarette from about 40-50 feet away. Amazing!
On the highway, I can smell someone smoking in a car ahead of me. And one car, well, lets say, the sweet smell of colitas rising up through the air...
And I can smell my 3 doors away neighbors septic field.

Yes, the sense of smell is full bore now....

And the wife has mentioned her sense of smell, she borrowed my car, and for the first time in like forever, didn't feel like throwing up.
