Thanks, Jim! :)

We discussed this at our meeting on July 19th and we are looking into how best to utilize the YouTube group, if at all. (CASAA also has a YouTube channel.) It's just that some other things like indoor bans and legal issues have taken the bulk of our efforts recently. We're running on 1/2 of a board, so all of us are doing double/triple duties.

What do you envision this YouTube group to become? Member testimonials? Rants? Public announcements? We'd like to hear your ideas and any ideas other members may have.

Kai is working on a sample video for a possible video contest in the near future. So, we hear you - it's just that trying to prioritize sometimes puts things like this near the bottom of the "to do" list. :(

what's the CASAA channel called? Cause if it's called a "CASAA channel" then i don't think your average folk even knows what these letters mean. similarly, i was looking at the merchandise on your website and even though i would love to buy stuff that promotes e-cigarettes, i don't think the somewhat cryptic "CASAA/ think outside the pack" will really get the message across much, especially without any pics.
or what do you think? :)

I wear mine out to bars and restaurants on the weekends and am asked repeatedly about "what it means" and "what is CASAA". I actually like the fact its a bit cryptic so I do get the questions and can explain for myself what its all about. I usually pull out my e-cig and let them take a puff if they wish. The whole situation starts a larger conversation I would rather have a one on one than having someone simply see a very understandable script on the back and read it and ask no questions.

Furthermore I would have to say ..... its a CASAA shirt , not and e-cig shirt so pictures of e-cigs or the like ... I dont know about that. It could be done but CASAA is an advocacy group and if we were to put a picture of something on the shirt it wouldn't be long before someone chimed in with "that sure does look like XYZ's product" and we would be seen as advocating a certain brand or harm reduction tool. All this are just my opinions and ideas so don't take it as I am crawling the poster in quotes.

Here's a question from left field, why are you running on half a board---who left?

It's important to remember that CASAA doesn't represent e-cigarettes alone, but promotes the awareness of ALL smokeless alternatives.

The CASAA channel will have keywords/tags that help people looking for info on smokeless alternatives to find us and will be linked to from the CASAA site.

Here's a question from left field, why are you running on half a board---who left?

We have a few members that haven't participated for some time (dropped off the face of the earth, so to speak, haven't replied to correspondence and are considered resigned) and two who formally resigned.

The remaining board is (by ECF names) myself, Webby, Yvilla, Vocalek, Territoo, Thalium, Kai Cherry, Drewsworld and Citesteamer (an attorney who isn't on this forum much, but recently agreed to join the board to help replace one of the missing members.)

We are currently considering a couple of other qualified people (hopefully snus/smokeless tobacco users) to invite to the board and will soon be asking for input from CASAA members for others to consider. We're also specifically looking for someone with tax/accounting experience to take over as treasurer.

Just to let you all know, I got YoUTube Partnership yesterday and this in itself will drag people to the channel and group. So now, we can preach to people other than the choir.

Unfortunatly I'm constantly harrassed by the same trolls over "at the 'other' forum" (you know who) that are hell bent on feeding me bull**** still. So, I will be concentrating my efforts in the CASAA video group and my YouTube channel and hopefully have more time to post more information here and on the CASAA board when I get the opportunity. It's been a very hectic three months for me and the work that went into getting YouTube partnership was like pulling teeth from a ...... off tiger. But in the end, it was worth it. As we now have the potential of thousands of views from people all over the world who probably never even heard of the PV before.

So, if you ever do decide to do some PSA style of videos, or even just a quick intro to what CASAA is, just upload them to the group, and I'll see to it that it gets the views.

ECA has a YouTube channel, but it's been pretty dead for several months. CASAAs YouTube channel has seen even less action.

So, lets work together and make people aware of the PV. ;)

ok, points taken about the t-shirts n stuff...

with regard to the youtube channel, if CASAA is primarily an advocacy group, perhaps a separate organisation is needed if one wants to go and openly advertise the lifestyle of vaping :D

Could be done. Simply creating another YouTube group. I created two already, the CASAA one and one for independant (non partner) YouTube channels. The CASAA one has gathered 44 members already, the other only has about 11. But a third one can be done.

Kristen asked me if I'd be able to help with some video production for CASAA. Of course I said; "Yes, I'd be happy to." So throw my name in the hat and let me know what you need.

Doc

I am so happy to hear that, Doc!! In fact, it has given me an idea: I would like to create an interactive DVD with Frequently Asked Questions answered in video. We can create a compilation of new and existing videos answering the most commons questions or objections about smoke-free alternatives and build a DVD menu that would allow people to quickly see a short video that answers their specific question.

I think this could be a great way to educate people when you don't have access to the internet. There is a DVD player pretty much everywhere you go, and this would give us a way to make sure that we are spreading a clear and consistent message.

Bad news folks. I got notified by YouTube (yes, they do talk to me now) that YouTube groups will be eliminated within a month or two. They will be removing existing groups in the next few weeks. :(

But the apparent good news is that they are working on a new system where channels can coloberate with each other. It seems that eventually a group can be greated with a common theme and channels can hook into it. They said it could take a long while before that can happen though.

Sounds like a good plan. The DVD authoring is a bit beyond my talents, but production isn't a problem. Do you have a storyboard or flow chart for this yet?

jim, even though groups will go we can all tag informative videos with that same tags so they will be featured together non the less.

Yeah, that would work. The same tags would force the videos to appear in the related videos section, which is usually filled with unrelated videos. I do this all the time in my videos. I add my youtube name to the tags and almost all of the related videos are mine. :)

I deleted the group today due to inactivity.

And as of today, I am no longer supporting the PV community. And you can thank our friends over at at Va*ors F*rum for that. And watching the FDA ban and watching those little .....es squirm will be comedy gold.

Just the other day on my way to work, the e-cig was mentioned NOT in a good light on my local radio station WOON. When I heard that, I knew the days of the e-cig in RI were numbered.

And to think all the money I gave for "vaping research" went for nothing and I'm still getting mistreated over at VF. Well, you chodes can go ..... yourselfves. I'm outta here.

Good luck.
