hey david, i was thinking about a 901 cap yesterday and realized that the connection would probably be much more difficult to manufacture? yep that was a backhanded question lol!

maybe that's why mods have determined that 510's are what we all need. the 901 has an outty connection on the battery end and it looks much harder to spec out right than a 510. 510's are just so simple in form.

said all that to say, we will probably never get a 901 top from any vendor for a large battery mod... lol dammit! Realizing this, maybe a high quality super T adapter for 510 to 901 could be a solution for us 901 diehards? not the standard crap ones out there, but one that is custom fit to the Precise line 510 tops. I bet they would sell like hotcakes david :)

I dont think its out of the realm of possiblity, once the programming is done the cnc does the work. I know it takes some work to get there but I think it would take just as much work to make a custom 510 to 901 adapter as it would to make a 901 top cap. Maybe I am way off base but it seems that it would take just as much to make those threads whether it was on the top cap or on an adapter. Maybe I am just desperate to have a precise 901 top cap so there is one less step to the atty. :)

On the upgrade buttons/contacts/caps, i still dont' have a firm date, but will let you know as soon as i do. ON 901 caps, i've made many 901 caps in the past for the Super 6, (they don't fit the Precise) but the principle is the same.

oh wow so it's still possible david? i am more determined to get a 901 to work seamlessly on the P18 now that i had a Riva 901 (12 days old) auto fire on me yesterday. Was sitting in bed and looked over to something smoking on my nightstand. Luckily i had a wet washcloth (vaping gear) handy and separated the atty from the battery. both were blazing hot. after several hours of cooling i charged the battery again, thinking maybe it was a fluke...

fully charged i put it back on 2 diff atties and same thing - auto fired with no light to tell me the danger. I also noticed that it wasn't doing the super loud sizzle that you'd normally hear with a fresh battery and a 901, but when i held my ear up to it, it was auto sizzlin. that's more dangerous to me = doing a stealth/no light sizzle. I was going to pick up a few of the Riva 901 kits for some elderly ppl in town that have expressed an interest and need to quit smoking. no way in hell i'd have them buy a firetrap at their age and mental capacity.

David if you ever make a $99 range of mods, i know they will sell, just for the safety aspects alone. it's so sad, when you can't recommend an affordable safe device for the elderly. many of the homes in our town are historic and they don't need further fire trap danger. our house is 100 yrs old and counting ;-)

I emailed the place i got the kit from and asked for a replacement battery, but now i know it scared the hell out of me enough, that i will never trust that e-cig, and i ran to the safe haven of my P18 :) Mechanical trumps circuit board chinese crap every time :thumb: I'm sorry P18 for cheating on you baby :p

i will bug you some more down the road for a 901 top david! i'm like a fly in the kitchen aren't i? haha

yep desperate here too ;-) i am clueless about mechanical design, but wouldn't david have to do a mold or what he wants to send it to the shop?
