I feel like it's most important to note that my coil is NOT burnt. I recently changed it. I've been using the same juice for about a month now, and recently it started tasting very soapy or chemical-y, it's absolutely disgusting. I don't smoke cigarettes, I haven't been vaping for very long nor do I do it often so my taste buds are fine, and like I mentioned the coil isn't burnt. I've been looking all over different websites and forums and I haven't been able to find any solutions, or anyone with a similar problem really. My e-cig has done this before, but I just didn't use it for a day or two and it went back to normal but now it doesn't seem to be going away.

I have a Smok AL85 starter kit with a V8 Baby T8 coil. The recommended wattage is 50-110 or 60-80 for best. My vape has a pretty weak battery so I've been using it at 52 watts. The juice I've been using has a 3mg nicotine level.

Hi @donniedarko; and welcome to ECF!:D

How old is the e-liquid?
How have you been storing it?
Has it been exposed to sunlight, heat, or lots of air?
Has the juice changed color?
What type of container (and cap) is it stored in?
Have you asked anyone else to taste it; and did they get a same/similar experience?
What is the juice (name/manufacture)?

Sorry for the "third degree"; I am just trying to think of any possible cause(s). :)

I would try it on a rda or different atomizer and see if it still taste soapy. Could be laundry detergent from pocket lint sticking to your coils or any kind of spray used around your mod. Or your getting used to your juice. I can't vape my favored juice more than 5 days without it wearing thin.

Too much flavouring in eliquid can produce a soapy taste as your taste buds are overloaded. Try buying some unflavoured liquid and diluting your current juice. Start with a small 5ml sample at 50% dilution and see how that works out.

I'd agree on seeing if others find it "soapy" could be tastebuds adapting, using the juice for too long. If you washed your tank recently, what did you use, and are you sure it all got washed out? If it's a new coil, it's possible some machining oil is on it or something, changing the taste of the juice?

You kind of are in the right time frame for vapor's tongue, where all your old, pathetic smoking tasebuds die off, and things either taste weird or like nothing for a while, as your new ones come in. I have found the longer I vape, the less flavorings and sweetener I use in DIY, as I can taste things differently. A lot of commercial juice tastes harsh, overflavored, or too sweet to me these days, and I usually have to dilute down commercial juices and amend them in some way, so it may be a renewed sense of taste causing you to taste things you previously didn't.

It would be helpful to know what juice, how old it is and how you are storing it etc., but unless there has been a "sudden" change to the juice, (like it getting overheated somehow, or something got into it somehow) I would consider getting others to taste it, trying a different juice and etc.

Best of luck, hope you get it figured out.

@donniedarko - About 2 years ago, I got a nasty soapy taste from about 30mL of Lemon Meringue Pie that I'd made about 5 months earlier. It was terrific tasting when I'd vaped about 70mL+ of it during the first 2-3 weeks of making it. The leftover 30mL hadn't been exposed to heat nor light, so I couldn't figure out WTH could've gone wrong to make it taste so nasty, when it was wonderful before!

I checked Bill's Magic Vapor's blog to see if it could give me any hints, since the LMP was 1 of his recipes, that I'd tweaked slightly to my liking. Sure enough...I found the cause of the taste. He said that recipes with high total flavor % sometimes have a tendency to develop a somewhat soapy taste after a long period of time. Since the majority of his recipes are HTF%, including the LMP I'd made...that was my answer. Now, I just make enough at a time that I know I'll vape within a month or 2, and it's fine. :)

So, if the company that made your eliquid used HTF% in it, I'll bet that's the problem with yours, too! Must've either been really high though, or fairly high + they had it for several months before you bought it...for it to be soapy tasting after you'd been vaping it for only a month.
